NCAA basketball coaches among 10 charged with fraud and corruption

NEW YORK -- Federal prosecutors have announced charges of fraud and corruption in college basketball, including against four coaches.

Auburn assistant Chuck Person, Oklahoma State assistant Lamont Evans, Arizona assistant Emanuel Richardson and USC assistant Tony Bland.

They were among 10 people charged in New York City federal court. Others included managers, financial advisers and representatives of a major international sportswear company. The details will be discussed at a news conference on Tuesday afternoon.

In court papers, prosecutors said the FBI has since 2015 been investigating the criminal influence of money on charges and student-athletes who participate in intercollegiate basketball governed by the NCAA.

They said the probe has revealed numerous instances of bribes paid by athlete advisers, including financial advisers and associate basketball coaches, to assistant and associate basketball coaches to exert influence over student athletes.

Looks like University 7 = UM. Important to remember that this probe is related to basketball.

Doesn't look good for a program who paid players not too long ago. Probably going to end up back on probation for basketball. Also, I know first hand that college basketball is the most corrupt with these AAU teams and regulations. Players get paid a lot more often in basketball than they do in football.

It's definitely Miami. Time to lawyer up. Problem is FBI has the power to make people talk. Let's hope this didn't trickle into the football program. This could be huge with the amount of money Addidas has and what they are really getting into recruiting wise.

Sounds like Addidas was paying kids to go to Addidas schools....now depends on how much coaches knew at this point. If this is Addidas doing backdoor dealings then they're the ones in trouble along with the played being ineligible.

If coaches knew then it will be a bigger problem for us

Wouldn't this have covered a time period when Gatto was at Nike?

Sorry, I got mixed up as to when this investigation started, versus when these specific allegations occurred. Looks like Gatto was at Adidas.

So who is "Coach-3"?

And who is the kid? Looks like he was deciding between us and a rival.

Has Nike, adidas or UA ever been responsible for putting a school on probation? Not a good look for them. I’m wondering if there is anything in the contract to compensate us for something like this.

Player never came or deal wasn't completed... thank god.

But the problem was that UM was probably caught on tape negotiating $$$ to secure a player.... thats the BIG problem that UM faces.

Along with who knew about this ....

Optics are really bad here ...
