Not to play devil’s advocate, but the playcall would have generated a first down if he doesn’t drop it…

The way the Lions offense had been cooking + Badgley being a below average kicker, I have no problem going for it from that distance.
I don’t have a problem with the call either. It’s his MO and it consistently puts the pressure on defenses. Also, as you stated, Reynolds dropped the ball and then he did again. The issue in the second half has been Niners offense started rolling and Detroit didn’t convert on their opportunities.
