the Irish guy killing Joe Gallo and Hoffa was new...
True but I mean storyline wise. If you saw Hoffa with Nicholson then nothing new while watching the Hoffa saga (other than the twist of who supposedly killed him) and little things like the mob hating the Kennedys are in a million movies and documentaries.

I know 1979 is a long time ago, but it's based off the book written by a guy who was in the trenches. Who the ***** killed his family during World War II because he refused to participate in **** propaganda. Erich Maria Remarque, I believe his name was.

I'll check out 1917 though; haven't had a reason to go to the theater in years.
The way they shoot the movie is awesome. It’s always the same shot, without cutting away to different scenes. It really allows you to immerse yourself in the environment and put yourself in the shoes of the soldiers.

Uncut Gems was phenomenal! So darkly funny and you really feel the anxiety building throughout the movie... Also, Kevin Garnett was surprisingly excellent in a big role.
Agreed on all fronts. I was also surprised by KG big time , it wasn't a cameo either .

I’m a history major and I agree. WW1 and Korea are often overlooked. Same with WW2 pacific.

Eastern front gets glossed over more than any other imo.

Still to this day, "My Cousin Vinny" makes me laugh my balls off.

"Yeah, what the prosecution said was all bull****. Thank you."
The scene when he shows up in jail for the first visit and Ralph Machio is sleeping so his friend assumes he's there to take the booty is hilarious . Great double entendre.

And it was far the most brutal.

Those battles and the civilian toll and migration is almost incomprehensible. I tell people The only reason we don’t speak German is cause of Russia.
No disrespect or in any way discountting the horrors and bravery on the western front. But the death toll, battle sizes, and what it did to the Germans is without question and a historical fact.

To me, it was disappointing on first watch only because my expectations were so high.

On the second and third watch, you really get to appreciate the story more.

I still think a few minor tweaks could have made it even better, but no doubt it was a great movie.

lol they tweaked it enough!!!!

You hear the stories about the Battle of Stalingrad, guys crossing the Volga, and guys were not issued guns; they were given stripper clips of 7.62x54R.

"Don't worry, if you live long enough, you'll find a gun on the ground."

Good ******* god.
