-He has a supposedly bad history here when he was really young on the staff. While a long time ago, I don't know much of that would still be held against him. But could you imagine him with Strawley and James? lol. Also the dude has to be like one of the king bagmen in the history of cfb. He wouldn't work under this admin or this highly watchful NCAA era.
-Up until last year he was a mediocre at best HC and more of an energy guy and recruiter. He was terrible at Ole Miss outside of getting them a lot of talent, and at USC he actually did a solid job replacing Kiffin. I'm sure his prior experiences at Ole Miss plus his seemingly knucklehead persona gives off the appearance that he's an idiotic Louisiana hayseed, and more than likely cost him a chance at USC. But his ability to adapt at LSU has been really impressive (he is also one **** of a dline coach but that's a different subject).
-I can't tell if last year and this year are a flash in the pan with him or not, but I'm leaning towards the latter as a guy who has learned from his mistakes (dealing with team in more versatile and charismatic way than treating his qbs, etc all like dlinemen; more finesse with the media), can bring in tons of talent (see LSU last year and their current class this year), can adapt to address his program's shortcomings (making sure to keep Aranda, researching and bringing on Brady after realizing the offense had been stale for many years, not changing the great elements of the program like Corey Raymond, etc.)
-The key will be what they are like after Burrow graduates.
-I guess we'll truly see at Alabama how far they have truly gone under him.
