He was like LSU’s fourth choice And fell into it. Everyone thought that he would be an interim guy for a year until they could get the name coach

Why didn't we go after him?
I know alot of folks here think he's not good but his current record would say otherwise

Ed Orgeron is a perfect fit at LSU—where he has a small fortune to hire coordinators like Dave Aranda, who makes $2.5M a year—and he's recruiting to an SEC power that has no issue skirting the rules, nor do the care about academics. Look how many guys Miami has lost to LSU over the years simply due to grades.

He also took over a program that was loaded with talent when Les Miles left; monster recruiting classes year after year and a ton of top-flight players.

Orgeron failed at Ole Miss, wasn't good enough for USC to give the head job to after an interim role—and looked all but dead in the water at LSU his first year or so there; including a home loss to Troy.

Moral of the story isn't that Miami should've gone after Orgeron—it's that fans need to STFU and give new head coaches time to get their bearings, as it takes work to get things rolling.

Coach O is great and USC messed up not retaining him. They’d be a championship caliber program today had they done so.

Disagree. His schtick works at LSU where he fell into a ton of talent left by Miles—at a program that **** near recruits itself due to their overall success. He was the perfect fit at turnkey LSU, where USC would need a lot more to dominate the way the did under Carroll.

Coach O has talked in the past about the demons he left in Miami. He was in a bad place during his time here and would be surprised if ever physically steps into the city of Miami. Cajuns are very into God and Demons so he probably thinks he actually had demons around him in Miami.

So, Leach is a Cajun?.....oh wait, that's pirates and zombies......never mind.

To be honest, I think they all scare him...zombies, demons, pirates, whatever.....

People on this board hate giving a person credit for doing a good job.

Other than being undefeated this season what makes him great?
His coaching record is average at best.

Posters on here like to say that many of the current successful coaches would bomb here, or not fit in, just to pump up the Intern as some great hire because he’s from Miami. Yet you see SFL kids go and play for these “bad” fits but they push it off as some “bags” situation. Truly pathetic.

He was a drinker and in a very volatile personal relationship when he was here. One that resulted in him being permanently persona non grata at the school. They probably still have a file on him or some **** sitting around.

As was mentioned, those demons were apparently left in the past so good for him but that's why we never tried bringing him back in any capacity.

Realizing and learning from his shortcomings. His approach now comped to his time at Ole Miss is night and day. He’s doing a great job at LSU. His record there says so.

Go Coach O!
Go Canes!

Who cares if Coach O has the resources and spends the money to hire elite coordinators, position coaches, and yes, bags?

Isn’t that what we wish we had at Miami?

He needed to have great coordinators and be a head coach. It’s finally happening for him. We all knew this could happen, but he would never determine his own success on the field. He’s a program manager, not a coach. He’s doing a great job and winning. He will lose is OC and eventually his DC. It’s lightning in a bottle. He’ll have to find new ones and we’ll see...
What u described is exactly what a successful HC does. Manages the program and finds elite coordinators. When one leaves he finds another.

I love the guy but it would never work here because we simply dont have the funds to surround him with the staff he needs to succeed. He's a below average x & o coach at best.

Doesn’t matter who the HC is today... if he isn’t surrounded by elite staff he ain’t gonna win.
