Oregon RB Dye hits the Portal

So many of our fans ignore the fact that our OL can't stop an iguana in run blocking
Have you seen the video of the baby iguanas trying to avoid the snakes on the Galápagos Islands? If not, its worth a YouTube visit and might just change your mind about how hard it can be to stop an iguana. Put some respect on the iguana name.

Those ****ers have taken over Plantation. I am surrounded.

Pick up a .22 and a suppressor and have some fun
LOOOOL I just had this conversation 15 minutes ago. I said "if I'm willing to plunk down for a Ruger Mark 4, the ammo won't be too too expensive to keep in stock."

A case could be made for taking Parrish, Dye AND Citizen, assuming rumor of 1 RB portaling out is true.

I don’t think we’d take 2 portals AND one recruit. I think Parrish and citizen would make for a nice haul. Fwiw, I wouldn’t be surprised if brown and TF portal out after spring.

Why do we have to compare Rooster to other backs. We need help in the RB room and if we get Dye or Parrish so be it. But one thing is certain we need more bodies in that room and if we land a player like Dye im not complaining.

Chaney need to redshirt and get completely healthy. Train for injury prevention. Go see a specialist of some kind. Too much talent and I feel like he just needs a good whole year to get right and then some. Probably unrealistic but I am just rooting for him is all.

That probably has more to do with the comp he played in HS than anything.

I never said anything about Cody Brown when he was being brought in, but he wasn’t that impressive to me.

The fact he’s so slow isn’t even the main issue to me, it’s his lack of lateral quickness & footwork. At RB, you can be a lil slow, but if you can’t cut or change direction smoothly, then you’re pretty screwed.

Thad is slow, but he’s a locomotive & runs nimble, he’s a kid that gets better with more carries & most importantly he moves quick in short area traffic, he’s not ever gonna beat anybody in straight line 40 yard dash, but he can move effectively in between tackles & runs with very good contact balance.
A back like that can be very effective, especially late in the game.

Unpopular opinion:

Chaney and Knighton are more talented than this guy but he runs super hard for a guy his size.

He's a better take than Parrish.
Realistic opinion:

We have 4 rbs
1 is never healthy
1 is out of shape
1 is looking like a JAG
1 is great but not a feature back

Parrish will play next year, will Chaney last more than a couple games? Remains to be seen

Lol @ you spouting stats.

Go watch the young mans "highlight tape" from just this year.

AGAIN.....DO YOU KNOW WHAT KNIGHTON WOULD HAVE DONE BEHIND THAT OREGON OL?.

spouting off his td #s mean nothing to me i go off the tape. He isnt getting hit or making guys miss...at all. His ol are opening holes the size of 826 expressway. I was almost 3 mins in to his tape b4 there was a play he had to break a tackle and it was a 4yd run against stony brook.

he catches better...that maybe it. He doesnt have the feet, acceleration, and to be honest Knighton runs just as hard as well. Dude is a small straight line runner with not much juice. Going to see where he chooses to transfer to and how he plays at that school.

Go to the 2:18 mark..... He doesnt have the ability to make a dead leg cut and then juice up and out run the angle of a player as easily as Knighton did this

This definitely shows my age but that cut at full speed instantly brought one player to mind, Gale Sayers!

I'm not even going to critique Knighton, because why? I think he's a good running back. But, you're hoping he can become what Travis Dye already is and hope that's a + version of him. Knighton's got some better attributes than Dye, for sure. You're hoping he can become Dye WITH the ability to finish runs with the long speed, to make that dead leg cut highlight play. But I think you're trying too hard here.

Dye's navigation through some tight holes (heh) especially in the red zone, when the OL does their job is impressive...you act like every runner can produce when the OL does their job, but there's some smart, veteran choices he makes and there's subtle movements he's making to get just enough to get in there for the score when less savvy runners would still get stopped short, or they'd make the wrong cut, etc. Runs with a lot of purpose and conviction (I strongly disagree about his feet and acceleration, I think these are both + attributes, especially behind the LOS, into the next level and its why he's been so successful when the OL does their job. Watch him in the red zone, he's not hesitating, overthinking, whatever. He gets the ball, he's got a plan to get to the endzone, and gets there.

You want to dismiss a ridiculously productive career as a runner in the Power 5 for abstracts? By all means. I think Knighton COULD BE a souped up version of Dye...but he's not there yet, and I wouldn't pass up Dye in the hopes that we have a souped up version of him. I'd take both and see if the cream can rise. But I think Dye would show up and be the best RB on campus off rip.
Check the bolded. I have called him a straight line runner. There is a reason there isnt any hesitating or overthinking...its because the **** whole is wide the **** open, and thats his run style (see what Cam Harris does with a wide open hole going downhill). Me playing OL my whole football experience i typically can pick out a good runner, ol, and dl rather easily in evaluation.

He's productive. But so is Anthony ****** Brown the qb from BC running the ball there. Your dismissing the PRODUCTIVITY of their ol and play calling. The Verdell kid is easily better than him as well. Quite honestly Crispian Atkins likely runs for more than 300+ yards behind that OL.

If all of our rbs are healthy a footrace....dude is likely fighting for fourth with 230-240 freshman Thad Franklin. He is slow.

he is productive as ****...Not a bum. I just dont think he is a better runner than Knighton or even Chaney. He is a straightline runner...a straight line runner that gets killed on heer is Cam HARRIS. This kid wishes he had the long speed of Cam Harris.

I like his catching ability. Hes nice out of the backfield. Doesnt appear to fumble much either. I personally dont think he would be the best rb on campus and i **** sure dont think he would work all too well behind our ol. He has pedigree as his brother was a baller there to and a work ethic. But he likely wants to go somewhere and be the guy...he wont be that in our backfield.
