Oregon Extension on the Table for Mario

Oregon has every financial resource available, a weak pac12 (along with a down USC) and they still have not won a championship. They have a well oiled machine and they can never reach the top. If I'm Mario I'm asking myself will I ever get it done at Oregon? At Miami sure its going to be hard as well but you know that it has been done and you will finally have the financial support from the admin to compete.

If he says no it tells me one of 3 things:

1.We did not provide a package that convinced him he can compete at the highest levels at Miami
2. He thinks he's primed for a Natty run over the next 2 years
3. He's comfy and would rather be at a place who's expectation isn't championship or bust

Do you think Oregon is going to make Mario Cristobal the highest paid HC in the country? Unless you think that is going to happen, I don't believe getting outbid should be a significant concern.

And when has Oregon EVER made their HC the highest paid HC in the country? In the last 50 years? Spoiler alert: NEVER.

Does @TrumpyCane know about this? Because tomorrow the ghost of TrumpyCane's getting banned from twitter.
who is that GIF

Good thing he isn't a flighty 17 year old recruit I guess.
Yeah, playing the hat game while ailing Momma watches on facetime 3000 miles away isn't Mario's style... or any other sane adult for that matter

I'm not sure about 3. If he wins tonight and takes an extension that pays him 8 figures a year, those expectations will be as high as anywhere else.

Guess I'm in the minority, I don't think money has any play in this. Either Mario wants to come home or he doesn't. If he had any thought of it before, by now he probably can't wait to get out of there. Matter of fact, it would be wonderful if they won tonight, got offered more money by Oregon, and then said deuces to Oregon. That would make a statement.

He's not going to use Miami, his own alma mater, just to get a raise. If that's all he wanted, he would have entertained the overtures from USC and LSU and UF, then **** on them and cashed Phil Knight's check.

The fact that he did NOT do that is just a sign that this is NOT about whether Phil Knight can or will "get into a bidding war".

The war is already over. Either Miami won or Oregon won.

The more they're moving the more time it takes, this one was simple. I'll be watching the game tonight and I'm sure I'll be adding to the ****nal for the announcement.
OK ok....
A list:

Goldberg spearing Brock
Goldberg spearing Hogan
HBK super kicks Bret
Bryan Danielson at WM 30
Brok Lesnar F5 the Undertaker
Brock when he beat the Undertaker
HBK boyhood dream
Mike Tyson knocks out HBK

IMMA STOP.

Someone should make a thread of all the posts of people disparaging Miami's shot at Cristobal. That way we can either quickly delete said thread or rub it in their faces when he comes home.

This couldn't have worked out better for Utah.

Imagine being in the Oregon hotel right now. "Erm, coach, have you seen Twitter?"

We can get Kiffin for 50 to 60% of the price. Is Mario really worth this price tag?
Kiffin > Cristobal, IMO. I do, however, wonder if long-term stability is part of the equation for clearly making Cristobal the top priority. Not that this should be the deciding factor at all, but Kiffin has held five head coaching jobs. Reasons for moving on from those jobs range from termination (Oakland Raiders, USC) to leaving for alternative positions (Tennessee, FAU). He was obviously never staying at FAU long-term, but UM would be his six head coaching position. There may, on the other hand, be some thinking that Cristobal, an alumnus with not only deep UM ties, but an individual who calls Miami home, would be in it for the long haul. As Riley and Kelly each have demonstrated, coaches will leave "destination jobs" in favor of an another position. That isn't to say that Kiffin wouldn't be a viable long-term option, especially if UM provides the necessary resources, simply speculating whether UM feels Cristobal will provide more long-term stability.
