Rumor (OP speculates that) Dawson (might be) gone?? (but does not provide any info)

Nah man...It was good enough to win 16 games this year, when we took our heads out of our asses.

And why was he "handcuffed" with the QB and WRs in Year 3 as OC?

Not letting him and the staff off the hook so easy when getting Beck was considered a strong offseason move.
IMO, Dawson has his flaws, faults. Has tendencies.

But it can also be true that his QB limited his offense. That manifest is many ways: physical, mental, etc.

You can be limited as a coordinator if you are a mental midget like, TVD, Kosi, Williams who have the physical traits in terms of arm or the lack of arm strength like Rozier, Beck, Emory.

I thought Beck was pretty fantastic this year and was a great leader. As smart as he can me on the field, he also has a reputation for throwing interceptions at in opportune times going back to Georgia. It’s a fact! Our dreams ended because of a Carson INT and he was clearly limited by his lack or arm strength.

I am sure Shannon would like to call more throws down the field. He had to be cautious with what he called. But I also get that even with Cam, he was calling those ******* tunnel screens ad-nausea. But obviously the offense was way better with an arm talent and brain talent like Cam.

I am confident he would cook with Mensah.

Just based off the candidate names I know it’s bs. Nobody wants Dorsey as a OC. And candle just took the UConn job. He wouldn’t even leave toledo to come here
I am shocked and or dismayed that my hard hitting, straight forward, 100% true (unless it's not) reporting is being doubted! I used like 100 words to make clear and concise points about what is totally (maybe) happening, unless of course, it's not!

I would use People Search directory on Miami website to find out whether or not his name is still on the list.

A few years ago I used it to see if the OC Josh Gattis was in the directory repeatedly until he was not. Sure enough I made thread in this forum to inform that he was no longer with the team before the media and the social media broke the news about his firing.

Is there a coaching conference for the NFL that happens around this time of year? I feel like I remember that from the other coordinator searches, but maybe it’s just because there is so much movement in the NFL this time of year.
AFCA was last week. We didn't have any coaches there that I noticed. I went Monday for a 35 under 35 thing with a buddy that made the list this year. Ended up sticking around to see Lashlee's session and snuck into the end of the coaches panel to see Dave Aranda. Ended up at the RPO session Tuesday before I drove back home.

I Saw Manny Diaz and his crew and they did their usual thing inviting people up to their suite with a cooler of beer in the middle of the after party. Had a few beers with a friend who is now on Florida's staff and his buddy from when they were both at GT.... who is apparently UF's pass game coordinator... I was talking **** about them bringing in Philo to be their guy too. I was thinking he was just another off-field type guy.

First time I had never seen a Miami staffer there. This was also the first time we've been playing this late in the year LOL

My gripe with Dawson is why does it require being in the red zone to get creative? For example, that second TD for to Fletcher was a thing of beauty. He ran that rainbow motion with Mally and the whole defense ran that way a never recovered. Why can that type of play not be used on 3rd and short on the other side of the 50. I am genuinely asking any X and O gurus in here.

There was another i remember specifically from the TAMU game, it was with Jacolby george, motioned in and then back out, easy TD. we ran it a few other times I beleive but never saw it again this year.

I believe it was due to the fact that we couldn't manhandle their defensive line. Mybe he could have adjusted sooner.
From my vantage point, IU took away anything in the A-gap. There were successful runs to be had running Duo/IZ, like on Fletcher's first carry. He just had to cut the right way. He did that on the first run. Go back and watch the 2nd & 6 run on our second drive, Fletcher went left on IZ when he should have went right. We walled off the right side great on the IZ scheme that the LBer tripped Fletcher on in the 2nd Quarter too; would have been a big run but for the cheating. The play action pass to CJ on that drive was 100% because of the success we were having running the ball on that drive. #7, their safety who has been in college for a decade, bit on the fake and CJ found open space in their zone.

I thought we were moving them pretty well anytime we ran wide zone. The two times they stopped us on it in the first half was when we didn't block Ponds by design on the first one, and then on the 6 OL wide zone run that either McCoy (as TE) or Bell messed up and didn't block Ponds 2 plays before the FG. That would have been an explosive run had someone gotten a hat on Ponds.

I thought the biggest mistakes Dawson made in the first half were on the 3rd and 4th drives. We abandoned the run completely on the third drive. Then we subbed Fletcher out (after just 4 carries for 16 yards) for Brown, CiCi got beat by #6 on the 1st down IZ, then we got stuffed on the 3rd and short.

I thought we didn't feature Fletcher enough in the first half. We also kept trying to run where they stoutest on the 3rd/4th & 2 or less yards to go situations, instead of mixing some passes in like we had prior to that in the playoffs. The maddening thing is that despite everything, we were really close to popping a few big runs in the first half, either bad vision by the back, missed blocking assignment by an OL, or tripping by IU stopped us.

The other thing that drove me nuts is why after breaking a 60 yard TD off wide zone did we only run the ball with Fletcher twice on first down IZ/duo runs in the next 6 plays across 2 possessions? What happened when we called wide zone on second down on the possession after the punt block? Fletcher ran for 10 yards.

Beck couldn't hit the broad side of a barn downfield. What Shannon did with the O with those limitations is something else, really. Every game we lost we lost because of a Beck INT. You think he didn't limit us?

He was limited. But we hung our hat on getting an injured QB from the portal/league. Did Beck become limited at 7:50pm on Monday night?

But then became unlimited at the start of the second half?

Biggest game of Dawson’s life and the offense did **** for 2 full quarters.

It’s been said he’s the one who turned down Mendoza.

I agree with this. What I am saying is people want to excuse the staff for the limited QB and WRs… they are limited, they were limited, we knew they were limited… and that was what we ended up with vs Emory.

And still, no real excuse for disappearing for a half of the national championship game.

I don’t dislike Dawson. I’m not calling for his head, but the offensive staff as a whole has a questionable feel for the game at times: kick a 50 yard FG with a recently shaky kicker vs going for it conservative, then while driving to close the game out with plenty of time left and go for the kill shot leaving time for them to score aggressive.

You take your shots, you win you lose, but when we have lost, I’m not sure we put ourselves in the best position offensively.

when did you change your name back? you confused the ****e out of me. glad i now recognize your porsts

Hard to tell the truth because that sets up the was it Dawson vs Mario debate and there is only ever one winner there.

But either way, if Dawson turned down Mendoza or Mateer or Mensah or one of the other quarterbacks in the portal before the last day and Beck being pulled in from the draft, then Dawson gets no pass for Beck being limited.
