will be convincing draft eligible players not going in the 1st round to come back. lets face it, we probably lose cam and brevin is a no brainer. given our history of losing anyone projected in the 5th round or worse, Ed's influence and experience (coming back for another year) may be able to convince guys to come back and make a run next year.

if not, we stand to lose potentially cam, brevin, bolden, Philips, nesta, blades.

maybe Ed can convince king and the others not projected in the 1st 2 rounds to come back, which we haven't been able to do in a long time.

I guess the proof is in the draft position. If these guys go in the first couple of rounds then they made the right decision. If they don’t then, they should have come back. It’s really a wait and see. Outside of Brevin and GR there are no sure fire top 50 picks. The rest need to nail their decision

How about king.

with the new player likeness $$$ available they need to show king that a 4-7 round pick can get cut right away and end up with a signing bonus and a pink slip.
1 more year of king PLEASE
If the qb comes back that could influence others and perhaps start to change a culture.

look at Ettienne in Clemson. He came back. It can be done.

Why does that responsibility fall on Reed? Because he stayed until his senior year? Smh.

Because he’s been there (came back and won a NC) and he’s been in the nfl. I’m sure manny and others will be involved, but as someone else noted, it’s about culture change. We need to stop losing guys to the late round/free agent money.

if u don’t think areas like this is where he’s gonna be used you’re a moron.

If seeing how other Cane players have lost out doesn't shape perspective, what makes you think Ed Reed has some magical sauce?

Listen, when the agents get in their ear all reality is tossed out the window. In fact, 90% of players believe they are better than the projections. This belief has carried them this far.

Football is a very grinding sport, why not get paid for it? This is the thought process for the overwhelming majority of players.

The only exception to this rule has consistently been Clemson.

He may convince one guy but even with that, it’s an improvement. Unfortunately, it’s an uphill battle bc he has to battle the grimy leech agents PLUS the family/hanger ons that the agent fluffs up in order to swindle the kid into going pro when he’s not ready. I don’t think Reed will be able to help with the top guys like bubba and JP but for the next tier guys like nesta and blades, yes.

I can see Reed being key during the bye as well. Getting guys to put in extra film session and helping them (esp DBs) with it will be big for this team.

We keep sayin who should and should not based and where they will go. But All the top teams Convince high draft picks to stay.
If etiene was on our team he would be in the nfl this year.
We want to say we want to be a playoff contender but don’t want to do contender things. We are basically facing an nfl running back with Clemson and not a dude who might be in the nfl if he declares after this year. Ettiene is a player that can legit be on an nfl roster right now if he declared after last season and the impact of him staying is huge.
The impact of having a few of our draft picks stay for next year can’t be understated.

It's a lot easier to convince a kid to come back and play for a shot at a National Championship than it is to a 6-7 or 7-6 squad. Its easier when there are multiple guys coming back with the same mindset, than trying to get one guy while he watches others go try for their NFL dreams.

There is a lot of football left to play and the culture in the locker room is changing. Get to Charlotte, have some fun balling along the way and we might have something real to offer them.

If you are a 1st round draft pick then you probably should go. I know that is painful as a fan, but with few exceptions it makes sense.

The area where we need to see dramatic improvement is convincing the 3rd and especially 4th round+ kids from not leaving early.

Edit: I completely missed the 'not' in "players not going in the 1st round to come back". My bad.

We always have idiots who think they are better than they really are.

When was the last time we had a someone declare early and it ended up being a good decision?

They all should stay.

If any of these guys are up for national awards at the end of the year it’s going to be hard for them to stay, you gotta take that leap when you have the lights on you!
