One of the podcasts mentioned PJ Fleck as a possibility. Thoughts?

As was already mentioned, he has been a success wherever he's gone. Don't know if he'd even be interested, but he's definitely someone who should get a phone call from someone in leadership from UM.
Yeah I don't think he would be as well, he's turned down a lot offers at Minnesota and he's already making more then we could pay him. He signed a 6 year 33M deal.

Fleck would be a grand slam hire here! I live in MN and follow the Gophers/canes very closely. His teams are tough, always prepared, and he is 100% genuine. Whoever said he can’t recruit earlier is obviously talking without having a clue. He is a top recruiter in the country, he’s consistently described as relentless on the trail. He gets 4 stars to come to Minnesota and he consistently finds 2 and 3 star guys and develops them into pros. He was the 1st to offer Bateman out of GA. I’d love him for Miami but I think he’s waiting on the Notre Dame job to open one day.

My family has had season tickets for Gopher sports since the 70s, so I’ve watched a decent bit of him.

He’s a good coach. His gimmick isn’t for everyone. It works at place like Minnesota but it would never work here. He seems pretty genuine but he’s a Tressel guy. He belongs in the Big Ten, especially at a school where recruiting rankings aren’t a big deal.

If Al Golden hadn’t failed miserably here, I’d say give him a shot. But we all saw how that ended. Fleck is obviously a better on field coach but he’d recruit the same kind of players, low star high upside guys. Just not a successful recipe at Miami.

Jokes about the tie curse aside, if/when Day leaves for the NFL, Fleck and Fickell are likely to be their first call. That's why I'm so iffy about these big10 connected coaches. Most of them are odd fits at UM anyway, but they'd be looking to bounce the second they arrive.

Hes turned around pretty much every program he's been to and he's only 40 years old with like 8 years of HC experience, he's getting paid a ton at Minnesota, I think 5M per year, his buyout isn't bad only 3.75M in 2022. Fleck would be an absolute no brainer in my opinion

His record at Minnesota is average and a bit concerning. Was he a 1 hit wonder with that 11 win season?

5-7
7-6
11-2
3-4
2-1 (current year)

I know last year was a Covid season so things were different but I think how they bounce back this year will tell us a lot about Fleck. Would I take him over Manny? ABSOLUTELY.

I agree on Napier but Fleck would be at the top of my coaching list. Dude is a Leader, Motivator and very solid Coach whose only 40 years old and still developing.
Fleck would convince you to join a suicide cult and you’re fully invested. Don’t believe the fake motivation
