On Zaquan Patterson...

1 year later there is a body of work. Attach that to a high price tag and it shouldn't be too surprising. Message is that there isn't time (or disposable money) for highly paid players to "figure it out"

I’m just Stunned at how 1 year changes everything.Zaquan Patterson was a hard fought expensive recruiting Victory , year later parting ways,
Yeah it’s all but killed my recruiting interest. I mean, I still follow it. But it’s much less exciting to “win a battle” cause it’s really never over. Sheeeit I remember ordering the VHS tapes off grassy, the Merriweather tape was legendary.

Hard to get too excited these days. Unless it’s a guy that’ll play right away, since it’s a year-to-year thing now.

Is there a single kid on FSU’s roster you’d outright take?

I’m sure there has to be, likely in their secondary. Maybe the RB? The young TE? But holy **** is that roster awful.

I’d take Landen Thomas, the TE you were referring to. I’d take Kevin Wynn, the big nose they just signed. I love DT’s and think he’s going to be a solid player in the future. I’d take both Squirrel White and Duce Robinson too, but honestly that’s probably it. I know Darrell Jackson is a polarizing topic around here and I’ve already spoke on that so I won’t go down that road again, lol.

Yeah, Thomas was the kid I was talking about. That’s insane. I know if we really went player for player over the entire roster, I’m sure we’d find more than four but holy **** if you’d only take FOUR kids off their whole roster off the top of your head how embarrassing is that program right now?

This was an expected move.

I've always been a fan of Patterson's game- he was the best player on the field several times for Chaminade in 2023. But the reality is that he's a very highly paid player who's limited in coverage, has been injured, and has not taken the next step off the field. A parting makes sense for both parties- Patterson has three years of eligibility and a chance to build himself into an NFL player with more playing time. We can spend the money on a win-now safety while continuing to develop guys like Dylan Day.

It's never a good thing when a talented, big-name local player doesn't work out, but in the modern era it's better for both sides to move on quickly.
Salary cap hit.
