On Ny Carr...Staying at UM

Listen, I have seen your posts rnough to know you are the ultimate apologist and excuse maker. You are the exact person I was referencing as to it wouldn't matter what insight I brought, you would roll with what you want to roll with anyways. That's cool. Enjoy believing what you think you know, when you have absolutely no clue.

What excuse am I making lol?
You're acting like I'm saying losing Carr is a good thing or a positive.
The top 2 absolutely were funna be Daniels and JoJo. Toney seems like a dawg and possible impact freshman. And we have always NEEDED a stud Portal WR. So... Why would I be surprised if Carr wants to go somewhere else?

Our WR depth is now complete *** and I think Ray Ray is bad….

Bummed about Carr, But I don't see how this can be shocking to anyone. All three of these guys were injured. When that happens, the decision comes down to whether they can make a full recovery and their commitment level to the rehabilitation and off-field regiment. There were question marks about every one of these guys. Maybe it was too soon and we should have tried to nurture them back into the rotation. But how long do you keep paying a Trevonte Citizen? At some point you need to cut bait.

Yeah, overall not impressive. NIL era or not, half of the top 100 players signed from the 2022-2024 classes were gone by year 2. That seems like a bad miss rate. Whether it's bad evals, not being developed, etc., those are supposed to be the core guys to build your team.

Compare them to being a teams 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks in the draft. They should be the foundation of the team you are building. You can't miss on half of them and succeed long term. As it is, we aren't signing anywhere near enough top 100 players (compared to the best programs) to lose the few that we do sign.

First, you can't count 2022. Second, tell me a staff that does better than 50/50 in its evals? That's why you stack chips, because you know you'll have busts no matter how good the kids look in HS. Third, other top programs are seeing just as much attrition. Go look at Bama's outbound transfers in the Winter portal. Georgia just had a highly touted RB transfer out. Why? he was injured and passed up. Sound familiar?

Is the take away from the coverage of the past couple of off-seasons, "don't trust the off-season praise," or is it "don't trust the rationale for players departing who've recently received praise"? Food for thought.

This I believe and buy into. The staff and its apologists are good at spin. But I also think this is the state of the game today. So you can say I'm being hypocritical and call it an apology. But I don't see how you get around clawing back some NIL from these guys and if that triggers them to leave, it is what it is.

At the end of the day, the only thing that matters at this point is field a winning team. I'm fine with the transfers out. But we need the right transfers in to be playoff caliber. No excuses.

First, don't take things personally. I can tell you with 100% certainity you aren't reporting a lot of things.
I take offense to the comment that I'm being "fed" stuff on Ny Carr. It's BS.

I'm at every spring practice, in full. I saw Carr on the sideline due to injury. When he suited up, I saw others make plays while he did not. I stood right next to him and saw that he was struggling to gain weight. Nobody needed to feed me anything.

Did you see different at practice? Did you hear different? If you did, tell me. If you didn't, please don't tell me what I'm being "fed." People who go to practice don't contradict my stuff because it's true and easy to see.

Do I hold stuff back? Of course. I protect the team at all costs. But if I post something, it's either: (1) something I personally believe or (2) something I'm clearly labeling as from a source. When the coaches were telling me they believed in Emory as a starter, I told everyone what they thought. Then, I told you my personal opinion that we needed a transfer. Everyone can form their own conclusions from there.

And anyway, who am I protecting by saying Carr plateaued? How is that spin or pro-Hecht propaganda? That means he was either misevaluated or didn't develop. Neither is a good look. I hope he catches on at another program and lives up the potential he showed in his first spring and in flashes. He was always a good kid in my brief interactions with him.

I read your stuff on RCT back in the day and appreciate you have a connection to the program. If you see me, say hello so we can talk about our Canes. But don't accuse me of lying to people. Especially when you know I'm telling the truth.

Right. It was a missed eval and/or a poor eval... but the Mariopologists are out in every portal thread blaming the players...

Same ole same ole.

And -- i understand your need to be balanced in that...

This is a textbook example of what makes the portal heavy strategy so risky. Everything about it is contradictory.

The plan is to replace Carr, who has 2 seasons of eligibility left (minimum) with someone who'll have 1.

The 1 year rental will cost substantially more than Carr (if not, then wtf) AND we'll probably have to go back to the portal for a WR next year because we just lost Carr.

"But Moore and Toney already passed him."

Did they? Did anyone think that was the case until Carr jumped into the portal? And god forbid either of them have a "bad spring" in 2026.

Just so everyone knows, last year Drelon Miller wanted the same amount we eventually gave to Sam Brown. So...

The problem I have with last years wr rotation was Sam Brown. His production could have been replaced with JoJo or Carr easy. And Im sure he wasnt cheap. You would have gotten to see the younger players in games more to see what they actually had before this year and....they havent made an impact so were letting them go.....

Our 2024 #4 ranked recruiting class has now lost 2 top 100 signees in Patterson and Carr.
4/6 hit rate is pretty good for your top 100 players - i think J Scott, A Blount, M Lightfoot, and JoJo Trader are all going to be players. i think there is always going to be attrition, as well as players not succeeding at their first school.

I get that Carr wasn’t spoken much about but can’t the same be said about Chance? At least we were told Carr showed flashes last Spring/Summer

First, don't take things personally. I can tell you with 100% certainity you aren't reporting a lot of things. And or skew things at times with orange and green goggles on. I get it, it's your bread and butter, but I know the truth. How? I am just as connected to this team as you are. And I say that without hesitation.

Second, the spring game was an absolute joke. If anybody took anything away from that, they should go sit in a corner. Not to mention, all spring this offense was run by 2 QBs who have no business being on scholarship at UM and another who should be getting ready for his senior prom.

At the end of the day, I understand there are definitely certain things you and others can't report, but the hype, fluff, and than ultimate cover up is too much and really needs to stop.

If we can't count 2022, why does Mario get credit for Cooper and McCoy? You can't have it both ways. Either he gets credit and blame for it all, or he gets neither. You don't get to pick and choose.

As far as attrition, let me explain to you the difference. First, you are right, we are not the only school that is losing talent, everyone does.

You used Alabama and Georgia as two programs to point to that lose talent. They do, no doubt about it. But you chose those two because they are 2 of the top 3 programs in the last 10 years in CFB.

Why are they? For many reasons, but undoubetdly at the top of the list is because as you pointed out, you need to "stack chips", constantly and they are two of the best at bringing in elite classes.

So to my first point, we are NOT stacking chips anywhere near the likes of Alabama and Georgia. I think it's safe to say that, those teams pulling in the most top 100 players in the country constantly will be the most dominant programs in the country. And the numbers prove that.

So to my point, Alabama signed 38 composite top 100 players from 2022-2024, Georgia signed 33, while Miami signed a massive 13. So even if the hit rate is 50% at best (did not verify) when we miss on 50% of our 13 guys, we have 6/7 left, while when Alabama and Georgia miss at 50%, they have 19 or 16/17 top 100 players left. See the glaring difference? We cannot afford to miss at the same rate at those programs, when they are light years ahead of us recruiting. You aren't winning a **** thing with 6 or 7 top 100 players on your roster.

Second, most of those guys leave from those schools because they get beat out by other elite players (top 100). We aren't losing guys who get beat out by other elite players, because we don't have very many of them to begin with. So when we have top 100 guys leaving because they get beat out by guys not as highly ranked, well, I would say our evals were likely a little more off.

then please report that which @DMoney refuses to report. put up or shut up

It’s not really that complicated. Those guys received praise when they played well and showed flashes. All three are really talented.

They stopped receiving praise in spring because they didn’t have good springs. That was because of injury, slowed development, or (in some cases, not Carr) off-field issues.

This has become a win-now sport. Guys that could previously work through issues often end up in the Portal. They’re expensive to the team, and the players want opportunity.

All three of these guys fall in the same category: talented prospects who showed flashes but failed to make any progress in spring. It’s not ideal for anybody that it didn’t work out, but it’s reality. The good news for them is that they can rebound at the next spot, and the good news for us is that we have more money to use on other players.
