on my way to see golden speak tonight

I had a good time seeing Golden at Stat's tonight.

Was he going to the Hawks game because he barged out of there around 8pm?

What did he say NFC?

He didn't really say anything new.
He talked about the sanctions, said he thinks the NCAA will focus on the perpetrators.
Talked about how many guys can bench press 225 over 20 times, and pointed out that the number is even more impressive because they just lost 30 players.
Talked about the improvement in special teams.

Barrow was there too. He talked about Sean Spence and how much he loves him, talked about Eddie Johnson and Raphael Kirby (I'm sure he focused on the Georgia guys since he was in Atlanta), and talked about hitting Vanover in 1992. Said the next week they were expecting Penn St to throw the same screen to OJ McDuffie, and Barrow kept yelling at McDuffie to call the screen so Barrow could crush him.

lol good stuff Nofla

I didn't think about the bench press #'s and the 30 "upperclassmen" leaving. Those guys in theory would be your strongest. I'm cautiously ptimistic for this season.

Finally a real coach

this is based on...?

This based on: he's smart, organized in practices and game prep, has a plan in recruiting and a plan for the program, has reached out to local HS coaches to re-build ties, has reached out to many other FL HS coaches (Orl, Tampa, etc) to build roads with their programs, has hired a competant staff, is handling the impending sanctions with dignity and character, won as many games at Temple as Radio did at Miami, is well spoken, respects the past but is focused on UM's future, has a legit QB competition for the first time in a decade, has started to redevelop roster management, has a pretty good track record of getting the most out of his players (see Feldman's star chart for Temple), uses social media to his advantage (unlike UM football in the past), is a true CEO of a big business that is really what a college football coach is (Coke and Randy were lost), realizes the local press can be an ally for his program and has treated them with class...

what else? want more?

meaningless. Miami was 6-6 with 2 wins vs interim coaches. his "competant" staff included several hold overs from the previous staff some of which chose to go else where and they were outcoached badly in 3 games they should have won and lost to a 2-10 and at the time 3-8 Boston college.

Winning is all that matters. all that other crap is secondary but if you want to corwn him based on that BS then go ahead. It's all about winning and this guy left alot to be desired with his performance on game nights.

Good stuff. Winning in college football these days has a lot more to do then just x's and o's and showing up on game day. For the 1st time in 10 years we have a coach that sees the whole picture.

Agree with 'winning is all that matters.' & don't get me wrong, I'm the type of fan who 'hates to lose more than I love to win.'

Did the Bulls, on their way to winning 6 always win (in MJ's early years)? No. But groundwork was laid...a hardwork ethic, a core group a leaders developed, young players learned how to win. When the Cowboys, prior to becoming a NFL dynasty, were losing...was the ground work being laid by the 'Big 3' and many others in Dallas of how to win. It took time to turn those programs into winners. Did UM, in '98 and '99...win every game? No. They lost games they should have won. Looking back, we obviously 'out-talented' people back then...but didn't go undefeated until '01. It takes time. Are we a really good team now? No. Are we a really bad team now? No. Are we getting better? Are young players stepping up and being coached, for the first time in a long time by position coaches and coordinators for more than 1 year? Yes. Ground work is being laid. I think this ground work comes from the top...the CEO. Make no mistake, today's college football coaches are CEO's...and Gold is keeping his coaches around for continuity. He is laying the ground work to win.

I'm not directly comparing past UM teams or UM football to the Bulls or Cowboys...just trying to show that there is a road to winning. I think we're finally on it. Our program now is, seemingly, doing alot of the other things (see above list) that other winning college football programs are doing.

I never once heard you say that about Shammin in the entire time that POS was here ruining this team. All you did was make pus*sy excuse after excuse for Shammin and blame Larry Coker FOUR YEARS after Shammin took over.

Give it up. We all know why you are crying about Golden and why you defended Shammin till the last breath. If Golden were black, you would be all up in here defending him. lol.

Winning in col. football is the same as it was in the 90's get the best players, game plan accordingly, prepare your players, impliment game plan WIN THE DAM GAME. The only thing thats has changed is the internet, scholly reductions and a few rules.

LMAO @ somebody who thinks coaches win b/c the spend hours on the radio and making video's to appease some chumpy internet fans with a false sense of entitlement.

yep yep yep..all this sounds nice but it's real simple. if this guy doesn't win he'll be down the road. no one cares about HS relations, that ceo crap, being orginized etc.. it's about getting the best players, scouting teams/players, implimenting superior game plans, making improptu adjustments and WINNING. Any coach that becomes more of a CEO than a football coach won't win squat IMO.
