Emphasis on the Emory part. Did you not see how they were stacking the box in that game? Lol be for real man. Fletch isn’t some elite back, but yall are crazy thinking he’s not a very good college back. I mean do yall not remember he was coming off a major injury and most expected he wouldn’t even play last year and he was getting carries Game 1

He will be a better RB3 in 2025 than Lyle was in 2024.

If Lyle has truly taken the leap to RB1 and a fully Fletcher makes typical improvements (this was his first spring since arriving, that in itself should be huge for his development). Behind this offensive line, this RB group could be very productive.

Here's my take:
* I think Fletcher this season will give us what Martinez gave us last season. He's bigger, stronger, healthier and faster than prior seasons
* I think Lyle's all-purpose skills could give us a more complete tandem in Fletcher/Lyle than we had with Martinez/Fletcher
* I was never a Parrish fan, so take this how you will, but I think Brown is as good as Parrish, possibly more reliable in short yardage situations.
* I do think Ajay Allen was more dynamic, but we rarely used him, so I doubt we'll see any drop off in actual production and game impact
* Meanwhile, I think Lofton with another year under his belt will be a major upgrade as a true HB in situational rushing/passing game. TBH, Arroyo never looked fully comfortable in that role outside of blocking. I think Lofton gets genuine touches.

Overall, I really like this position group. I believe it's playoff caliber. CIS would have been on full meltdown if Fletcher and Lyle were at Taint right now versus here.

You don’t have to think when you have a playoff caliber position group, everyone would know. Like last year we knew we had a top oline, we knew we had a top player/qb, we knew we had a top wr room

We aren’t some random program bro, if anyone should know what a playoff caliber or a great rb room looks like its us. This isn’t one, and that’s fine we don’t necessarily need a playoff caliber rb room to win

To be fair - Martinez was overweight the first half of the year, and Fletcher was the better RB.

I feel like Martinez weight issues have been totally overlooked.

But coming off our bye (Louisville game) Martinez became a monster the last half of the season. He played ta a level Fletcher doesn't have the ability to get to IMO.

I would attribute the slow start more to showing up in the summer. If we had him in the spring he probably is better acclimated to the offense.

I know "Martinez wasn't comfortable with the scheme" has been the reason, and I'm not saying that wasn't part of it.

But the coaches said he lost 12 lbs from when he got on campus and that's why he had a slow start, and I hadn't seen this really mentioned. IMO that played a bigger part.

I'm making a separate (way too long) post about it.

He was doing this thing where he was standing up straight and being almost TOO patient after receiving the handoff the first few games too…Some of it his style (and other backs as well) but by mid season it seemed like there was less hesitation as well.

The answer is because we’ve been hearing that Fletcher and Lyle were elite RB1s since we stuffed OSU in the locker for them…

And so some fans are waiting for these elite RB1s to emerge and look like elite RB1s…

And then we saw a glimpse of what an RB1 looks like when Martinez bullied people…

So we overhype everything, especially SFL players and Mario, then when people ask, question, etc —- they are haters or mopes

Board lacks balance… like say… not quite elite RB2s

So why was Don Chaney so much more effective that day than Fletcher? Running into those STACKED boxes with Emory back there for 8.5 ypc

I never said he wasn’t a good college back but I guess it makes people feel better to always be so extreme

Some good news is IIRC the last two years we’ve been either the best or right up at the top for yards BEFORE contact for RBs

How much that changes with the team this year who knows, but we seem to provide a pretty good opportunity for a running back. All the backs last year had some moments really

Might have to disagree with you there. Where he physically plays games has no bearing on his tax status. Now, I know NY tries to play that game, but other states with income tax generally don’t.
The jurisdiction of your employer and your contract dictate state income tax or no income tax.

And since NIL isn’t pay for play, where he plays is a moot issue.
