On AJ Haulcy…

Would this $2.3 million free safety be worth it in last year‘s defense?
Guidry was still a problem, so not sure it would have mattered. Like if they convinced Caleb downs to transfer to Miami last year, I’m not sure how much of a difference it would have made if offenses just schemed away from him and into other weaknesses in Guidry’s system (I.e. linebackers covering wheel routes)..

Edit: Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we’re spending Money on the secondary… but that wasn’t our only problem last year. I’m slightly disappointed by the lack of portal DTs this year. Between scheme and whatever talent Miami currently has, I’m hoping that group shows out this year. Good defenses always start up front in my opinion, and they haven’t shown any promise there yet.

I get what you’re saying, but I think talent would’ve made a difference back there

2024 we landed Scott who did they get at that level . They wanted him be d

2024 Scott and lightfoot they wanted them both . Stole lyles from them that year too . 2023 and. 2025 we got the better de . They have dominated us at wr and db
They just won a natty. I don’t think they’re stressing it. Our dc better be recruiting and coaching his *** off. This ain’t Minnesota.

We have a young promising DT who has the potential to be a stud and 2 veterans who should be solid to maybe even above average players. If either of those two were studs they’d be gearing up for NFL rookie camps right now.
We are an injury away from being in big trouble with DT’s. If they even think about putting Meisedor to play DT or cover receivers, I may be done.

Facts.

I have been ranting about this for months now. And you're understating the problem. It's not just injury. Coaches are projecting with all three of Blay, Moten and Scott. What happens if one doesn't take that next step? There are only Jones and true freshmen behind them. For a position that should have 2 guys out on the field on 75-80% of the snaps. It's just begging for Murphy to lay down the Law.

I'm bullish on Moten, I think he shows out this year..

I agree with you on that what I’m saying wr have talent . The excuse of not having talent will not fly . Hopefully we get after the qb this year . Not all that’s stupid *** Stunts

I agree that top 30 is craziness.

Just out of curiousity I looked at GT schedule, talk about playing vs the powderpuff league.
Their toughest games are home.
If they beat Clemson on 9/13, they could be this year's SMU.

I don't think people understand how poor our secondary play was. Like, it was the worst thing I've ever seen and I've witnessed defenses by Matt Patricia.

There's All-22 tape going around for draft SZN for next year with Rueben Bain highlighted. He could not have beaten his blocker any faster at times and he had no shot at sacking the QB, because the ball was already out.

Imagine trying not to rush past the QB and hold some form of contain knowing full well by the time you get there, the ball is gone already. As much as I can understand the "Our D-Line underperformed" sentiment because that's how it appears on first sight, we honestly have no idea because the coverage behind it was Division 2 at best.
