On AJ Haulcy…

Absolutely nothing to do with play calling.
I get very weary of young coaches and whether they can close on elite talent or not.
I know he just got here. But if we are spending all this cash then it’s only right to be critical.
If we don’t start landing the same players as the uga’s and osu’s of the world it won’t matter if he can call a defense like a pro.
? We have landed better talent at ol, de / dt than Ohio state . We need to improve at lb and dbs to match them

I think this whole power 2 conference argument is a little flawed. If we were in the SEC right now, do I think we would have landed Haulcy? Im leaning towards no. Could it have helped, sure. However, over the last 10-15 years, LSU has had a much stronger reputation of producing NFL dbs than we have. That’s what it boils down too. If playing in the B10 or SEC was that much of an advantage, we’d see teams like Kentucky, Michigan State or Mississippi State steal kids from us, and that’s just not happening. You could put Ohio state in the MAC, and as long as they keep producing NFL talent, they’ll still always attract quality players. At the end of the day, we need to start doing a better job at turning out not just draft picks, but quality NFl talent. Money is not our problem because thanks to canes connection, we have a strong NIL collective.

People who think we have brought in, and/or have better DT/DE talent than OSU live in a delusional state and should be institutionalized.

I’ve made almost the same post pretty much verbatim 20 times since the start of the year.

The offense will obviously regress. That’s fine. It doesn’t need to be #1, and it almost certainly won’t be. But there’s no reason it can’t be ~Top 30.

The defense will improve. I can’t say for sure, but there’s no ******* way it can be that bad again, right? We buttoned up the secondary bigly. There’s plenty of talent. Our DC has proven he can coordinate a very good defense at this level. There’s no reason it can’t be ~Top 40.

A top 30 offense and top 40 defense is one of the better teams in the country if we can limit turnovers. I expect our OL to keep our QB clean. When he’s clean, he’s excellent. His footwork and accuracy decline when he’s pressured. But I expect he will be very comfortable in the pocket behind this OL.

Get it done.
I agree.

Is a top 30-O, and top-40 D enough to go 11-1 or 10-2 with a guaranteed ACCCG berth?

We need it to be a guaranteed top-2 in the ACC.

A top 30-O, and top-40 D that gets us 8-4 or 9-3 is 100% unacceptable.

I dont like that going in to year 4, the staff is **** bent on not having to start thr majority of the guys they recruited out of highschool.

Looking for any excuse to not have to play any DB, WR, QB, C or LB they recruited from highschool.

Regression on offense and improvement on defense in the ACCCG is the expectation.

Coaching ain’t an issue yet we’ve never won a ACC championship against “weaker competition.” Do the issues that plagued this program disappear with switching to the power two?
I am looking at the big picture and the long game.

Depending on the recruiting service, there were 32 5* players. About 25 of those players signed with $EC or Big 10 schools. The message is clear, the best players want to play in the Power 2.

How much TV revenue per team do the $EC or Big 10 schools make compared to the ACC? ESPN and FOX pay more to the Power 2. Miami remains a brand but fewer people nationally and regionally would watch Miami versus BC, GT, UNC, NC State, Virginia, Syracuse and Louisville than Miami versus Georgia, Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee, or Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and Oregon.

I don't care who sits on the HC and AD offices. Not being a member of the Power 2 is a significant disadvantage for Miami.

IMO

No way they folded. Pitch the offer and let him go enjoy that ugly *** river.
I’m sure he has a spot but he’s one of the brainwashed sec sec riders according to reports.
