Olivier Vernon is about to get paid

The money being thrown around to DL right now is insane. Malik Jackson just got $15mil annually. Thats $3mil for each one of his 5 sacks last year.

Interior guy, 3 - 4 ends are 3 technique tackles essentially

Vernon was too much of a knucklehead when he was on the field last year. Put up some decent numbers, but offset it with his dumbassery on the field.

The Dolphins never draft Canes, they finally draft two, hit home runs, and let them walk in their primes.

Embarrassing and predictable.

Miller is really going to sting, imo. I have a feeling he is going to absolutely blow up once he gets to a team that actually gives him consistent carries. Not many RB's in the league with his kind of homerun ability.

Lamar didn't want to come back, he was offered 5 mil and as you saw with Doug Martin working to agree to a 6.75 mil a year contract with the Bucks he isn't getting paid any higher. Olivier isn't ever going to be anything more than a one trick pony who's going to need and elite end on the other side to put up sack numbers. Again 18.5 of his 25.5 sacks starting came with Cameron Wake on the field, he had his chance to prove he was elite (21 games without Cameron wake ) and he isn't. Btw don't blame the horridness of the defense. Mario Williams played on a horrible defense his first three years..30.5 sacks

Vernon is a good but not great pass rusher and is a liability against the run. I would have loved for the Dolphins to keep him on as a pass rush specialist but I know some other team is going to throw a boatload of money at him with the hopes that he can actually rush the passer without the benefit of Cam Wake on the other side. Miller, on the other hand is getting a raw deal. I know the league doesn't pay running backs like they used to but he's been productive albeit underused. I don't trust Joseph Ajai's knees and I don't think they're going to be able to sign anyone nearly as good as Lamar for cheap.

Playing DLine isnt like playing "Zone corner" in the Seahawks scheme. Where you have an assassin having your back at all times if you get beat (Kam), "Ed Reed 2.0" at the other safety spot (EThomas) AND a top 3 corner in the league on the other side. (Sherman) So essentially you look better then you are. (Maxwell/Thurmmond)

Either you can rush the QB or you cant. Wake has had other Dlineman opposite him in the past and none of those guys put up numbers...**** Dion Jordan was suppose to be the savior and he didnt do ****. So whether he had Wake opposite him or not doesnt matter. The kid has 29 sacks (not 25.5) in his first 4 years. AND he is only 25. He is a premium player at a premium position.

Mario Williams was the #1 overall pick AND was paid handsomely in that rookie deal. He was suppose to have those numbers. Khalil Mack has 19.5 sacks in his first two years. Williams had 18.5. That should be his comparison. Compare apples to apples.

Vernon was a 3rd rounder. He GREATLY outplayed his draft position and has been underpaid. He deserves to be rewarded.

Lamar is looking at Doug Martins deal and he should. He didnt get the same opportunities as Doug but he is more explosive then he is too. So the production might not match but you tell me a team that doesnt want a homerun threat at RB IN HIS PRIME. Lamar is doing the right thing. This is his last chance at a good contract. No hometown discount should be given.

agree its crazy, I attribute part of the Shula downfall to this never drafting canes from 83-96 when he had exclusive access to them and the canes were shytting NFL players... should've been able to have several sleeper picks from canes

I'm with you on Lamar, not on Vernon. I am not ok paying him 14-15 mil a year to be above average. Btw he had 29 all four years but the THREE YEARS he STARTED he had 25.5 sacks with 18.5 coming in the 27 games he played with Cameron Wake, don't believe me look it up like I did you'll see I'm right. Mario Williams and Khalil Mack don't have anyone but themselves on their teams their first 2 years. He's a one trick pony who uses his speed and a above average swim move nothing else in four years.

What about Suh help? Cam went down and Vernon still had a top 3 Dt consuming a bunch of blocks

Vernon way too much with the holes we need to plug, Lamar is a bit over what they should pay. Definitely Worth the money but Rbs are a dime a dozen now, C.J Anderson comes to mind as a cheaper more cost effective player
