Oline stat....

Looking back on the stats, I was surprised to see how well Miami ran against Wisconsin. They had the best rush defense of any team we played last year and

One thing I noticed that I think I had forgotten in a drunken stupor was that we completely shut down Clemson's run game in the ACCCG. They had 41 carries for 77 yards. That's **** impressive on our front 7's part.

We have a better chance of scoring a TD from 30+ yards out than we do from inside the 5.

I’m ready for a Miami team that can get inside the 10 and I don’t already count 3 points.[/QUOTE]

Hey, that Kaaya to Coley goal line fade was money. Mostly because they couldn't run the in from the one. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

1st down: 5.87 (12th in P5)
2nd down & >5: 6.08 (7th)
2nd down & 5+: 7.40 (3rd)
3rd & 4th down: 4.49 (64th)

Can someone please explain the difference between 2nd down & >5 and 2nd down & 5+ to me?

edit: lol just noticed this question is one of the first responses on twatter

I’ll remember that and forget the rest of the game.

Doesn't matter when you play off ten yards and let Kelly Bryant throw 5 yard slants all day long

Never said it did, I simply said I was impressed with holding them to 77 yards on 41 carries. They no doubt kicked our *** and were the better team, I was just pointing that stat out.

So Rosier lit up the 91st ranked run D on the road through the air but we couldn't average 2 yards per carry against them? Because we were on the road??? Do we walk to road games?

Those #s are crazy skewed, but it makes no sense why

It's really weird, and I don't know the reason, but my 2 best guesses are:

1) We were just flat away from home. Some teams across are just totally different at home vs. on the road, and there is no good reason.

2) Rosier might have been forcing things.

Rosier Completion %
Home
- 59.4% - He was over 50% in 8 out of 8 games
Road - 46.2% - He was over 50% in 1 out of 5 games (Duke)

Rushing Attempts Per Game
Home
- Rosier, 8.5 att & RB's 23 att
Road - Rosier, 12.6 att & RB's 16.4 att

When Rosier wasn't passing well I think he tried to compensate by trying to make plays with his feet., and kept it himself more often. The Pitt game stands out to me where Rosier had 12 carries and Homer had 7, and I was ****ed Rosier wouldn't hand it off to Homer.

But again - everyone was flat. The RB's weren't much better on the road - Dallas (4,8 ypc), Homer (3.8 ypc), Walton (2.6 ypc). But they were better than Rosier (2.3 ypc)

Agree, that's a strange stat, especially when we couldnt run against bad run Ds on the road. If that doesn't change we are in trouble on the road next season.

One of the frustrating things last year from a olaycalling standpoint was short yardage situations, including in the redzone.

Richt very rarely ran any RPOs or play action quick hitters. ****, even a RB or TE screen would work. We either ran right up the gut or a fade to WR.... I can’t tell you how many times I watched us kick a FG and screaming at the TV “seriously, those are the 3 best plays we could run”

It comes down to when the defense knows that we need a short yardage conversion, our OL gets owned or we aren’t creative enough to out scheme the deficiency in our OL

Improvement from Richt, and Manny for that matter, is needed if we are gonna be a playoff team in 2018

The issue is they tore our passing defense apart...they didn't need to run. I don't think the Clemson qb missed for the first half.

Again, I agree, they kicked our *** all over the football field, but I was shocked at how we completely stopped their run game. They went NO WHERE.

Horrible defensive strategy, it's hard pressed for me to believe that they are 35 points better than us

Anyone who thinks our run game was even average see the door. If you think 148 yards per game is good then your watching the wrong level of football. 148 Rushing yards per game would probably be the best in the NFL, but 148 rushing yards per game in CFB is a travesty. We need to add about an extra 100 yards to that average if we plan on going anywhere this year. Rosier was bad and now teams have film on him (my goodness) so we better have the ability to run the ball.

Searels is on fire watch if our O-line doesn't improve.

Sigh when we hired Richt I thought he was bringing in a SEC staff but all he hired were journey men and we're getting journey men results. If we fire Searels I hope we do what we did with the DL position and hire some legendary coach from Texas with REAL connections, unlike rUmF, so we can start getting some Texas OL/QB croots)

There DLine absolutely wiped up the field with our O-line. Don't know what # of points better than us they were, but it was a decent amount. Hopefully we can close the gap, but we aren't better than them at this point IMO.

You're normally a little over the top for my taste, but year three is pretty much where I draw the line on a position coach. Give him a few years to get guys to fit his coaching style, but by that 3rd year, I am expecting significant improvement. Especially with the TE and FB help we're adding.

It's pretty clear that to contend, you need a top 40 run game, and we all know the run game starts up front. We have the horses. We have depth. We need the road graders to grade the **** road.

They weren’t 33 points better than Miami we just sh*tted the bed, ncstate was in a close game with them so was Louisville, Syracuse beat them. We shouldn’t have lost that bad period because it’s not THAT big of gap talent wise
