EXPECTATIONS WHILE ALSO REBUILDING

Knowing what we know now..which is nothing on the AD/coaching front. What are the expectations for new coach year 1..2..3..if the results W/L column isn’t leading to Annual ACC championship game appearances what signs show we still found the correct guy for a period that can be sustained and shows upward trajectory..what are the expectations Day 1

Here’s reference from our past coaches who were axed

These were “Miami guys” Shannon was 28-22 overall and 16-16 in the conference. Richt was 26-13 overall and 16-8 in conference. Diaz is 21-15 overall and 16-9 in conference.

How we address our gaps. Who we lose to and how we lose.

If any competent coach could win with our talent, I want to understand why a competent coach can’t win the coastal next year.
Because we aren’t nearly as “talented” as we think. At least that’s my observations when I go to games. The guys we’ve had who fit that mold..u can tell the difference. Do we have enough of those guys? Imo We haven’t had that annually in 15 years plus

Initial expectations: Consistently beat the teams that we should beat (i.e., based on talent alone). If we do that, we should win the Coastal (almost) every year.

Medium Term expectation: Win the ACC title within 3 years and contend for a CFB playoff spot (be in the conversation).

I will temper my long-term expectations based on what happens with the first 3 years.

Winning the Coastal isn't some crazy high expectation for year 1 with TVD and the rest of the offense coming back. We do have Texas A&M and Clemson next year so that's 2 likely Ls and the normal loss to some middle of the pack ACC school.

I think 9-3 is reasonable.
9-3 is very reasonable..but winning the coastal is something we’ve done 1x..2 if u count Al team…I agree tho. Our Brand says we should win this division annually..**** if not annually we should stumble into it..based on our brand..but that U to be the helmet doesn’t change the personnel wearing the helmet..got get the guys first in foremost

We always seem to find away get a surprise loss , good point .

if we hire a competent coach we are beating a&m and competing with clemson. if we dont we will go 8-4 at best.

Offense looks great for next year. My concern is defense. Need at least a decent coordinator and help from the portal. With that we should win 10 or 11

New HC (hopefully) will load up in the portal and we should have a pretty complete roster with experience, even if a lot of guys are sophomores they got meaningful PT this year. Portal additions at OL/DE/LB/CB should factor heavily into next year.

Gotta love when people hear what you just said (a beyond reasonable expectation/standard) and reflexively scream that we're still living in the past and have unreasonable expectations. It's often even people around our program and fanbase and reallllly leads me to question their motives.
