OL Max Buchanan signs with the Canes

I like the top five but depth is beyond scary.

Totally agree. Top 6 look good including Meriweather. @DMoney was praising Minaya during camps this past season, and said Wilkerson looked the part. Can we get to 8 with those guys?

Assuming we have 8, Pancake could move to tackle, RR could move to guard and SJ could fill in at center in an emergency situation That should be enough. Otherwise, we either need another true freshman to step up or a new transfer addition in the summer.

This reminds me of 2024. Same freak out about the OL. Mirabal wants his arms and legs. He is a real teacher. We just need a few guys from the previous classes to take a jump in the spring and summer. We been spoilt with Cooper playing since 2022 and Francis since 2023. But other than them 2, its been mix and match and new players at all other 3 positions.

Btw something is in my thinking, if Cristobal really feel this was an issue, like critical season killing....they would have robbed Uhealth at gun point to sign Seaton. Just my thinking.

Meriweather, McCoy, Samson, RR, Buchanan, and Cantwell are probably your top 6 OL.

Samson- LG or LT. He can easily play both. A better pass blocker than run blocker, but not a bad run blocker.

McCoy- LG, LT, or RG. He is a pretty good run blocker, his problem is pass blocking. I don’t think it matters where he plays, he needs to be a more consistent as a pass blocker.

Cantwell- huge RT, road grader.

RR- old vet, will hold down the C position

Meriweather- 6’7, 305. He’s built like a tackle. I wonder how he moves, bc I have no idea where he could play.

Buchanan- is probably looking at all the interior line positions as a starter or depth piece.

Expecting all 6 to play, basically how samson was the 6th man this past year

I'm confused about this: Can grad transfers still transfer outside of the "transfer portal"? They've always been allowed to, but thought i read under the new transfer portal window/news that they couldn't. Any idea?

I fully expect more chaos and for some kids’ agents to find more and more loopholes. The lack of spring portal will just create opportunities for kids to do what X Lucas did last year, it’s coming.

Way too much money on the table and playing time to be had for a contender. Someone will notice and want in.

You think they'll push for a grad transfer or two if they dont like what they see from that group in the spring
I’d imagine they would but they’ll want to evaluate and judge what they currently have. As I mentioned a few days ago I really like Merriweathers upside with these coaches. Nothing with him surprises me.

its concerning if merriweather who was basically a jag at UGA walks in and takes the starting LT spot from one of our home grown kids
its one thing if seaton walked in and took it but jamil is a jag

Not really, they’re gonna prioritize continuity too. If samson and mccoy are both best at guard then keep them there

I think you might be selling him a bit short, from what I see he is still super raw. Does UGA still have Searles coaching the OL? Remember what our OL looked like with him?

Bell is an example of a big guy who was super raw. I was legit concerned for him this year because last year he looked a lot like Merriwether who looked like a JAG, but if they can get him to make a Bell type jump then its all good

They recently forced searels to semi retire/advisor role I think and gave the nfl guy they had lead OL coach title
