Getting Tyson Campbell's OV to be that last weekend is going to be huge. Same for Surtain if we want a chance with him. If our last OV weekend is Thompson, Campbell, and Surtain then I like our chances with all 3.

Carson on the other hand is a prospect that Miami wants and bad. The coaches spent the weekend telling him that he can be the next RJ McIntosh for the Hurricanes. Carson likes the comparison with one contact saying that the visits went 'excellent' but there's apparently still some work left on the table which is why defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski plans to fly to the Midwest on Monday to meet with Carson once again. Nebraska and Texas are also believed to be contenders in the recruitment, but it should be noted that the shuffling of coaches in Lincoln might have hurt the Cornhuskers' chances when it comes to landing the athletic lineman. We'll add that Carson doesn't intend to sign early which means that UM will likely save it's Mark Richt in-home visit for January.

Miami’s LS of the future plans official visit for Dec. 15

It won’t be just the bulk of Miami’s scholarship players in the Class of 2018 heading to Coral Gables, Fla., for their official visits during the weekend of Dec. 15. The most important preferred walk-on in the class will make his way down to campus this weekend.

Clay James, an unranked long snapper, told DieHards he’s planning to visit the Hurricanes along with nearly every other member of Miami’s incoming class. Jarren Williams, who already took his official visit for the Notre Dame game in November, and 4-star cornerback Josh Jobe, who will be visiting Alabama, are the only two currently committed members of the class who have confirmed they won’t be down in South Florida.

“I’m going for my official the same time as everyone else,” James told DieHards on Sunday.

James was one of the best long snappers in the state this season and though he won’t arrive on campus with a scholarship, the 5-11, 215-pound senior is on track to earn one by the end of his freshman season. The Hurricanes’ two current long snappers are both juniors, and Jordan Butler, the starter and scholarship player, is on track to graduate in December. James will have a chance to earn the newly vacant scholarship once Butler graduates.

I can confirm that Miami has been in contact with Asante Samuel, Jr. lately. A source close to the four-star FSU commit told me tonight that an official visit to Miami this weekend is possible as well. This person added that’s Samuel, Jr, has real interest in the Canes.

Silvera will visit in January

Nesta Silvera is moving his visit from this weekend to January, he told me tonight. None of the American Heritage targets for Miami are early signees, so this could end up being a positive for Miami in their recruitment of Tyson Campbell, Patrick Surtain, and Andrew Chatfield. That crew is expected to visit together in January

Nigel Bethel, Jr. to visit Miami January 26th weekend

Miami Northwestern CB Nigel Bethel, Jr told me tonight that he will be visiting UM for his official visit on January 26th weekend.

Bethel decommitted from UF tonight and Miami has been intrigued with his size/speed combo at defensive back since the summer when he nearly committed to the Canes. His recruitment will be one to watch depending on the Canes’s continued pursuit of Tyson Campbell, Patrick Surtain, and Josh Jobe.
