Official: TVD Out / JB Starting

Jaccurri seems like a good kid with a potential high upside but we're 9-1 today if this staff didn't give Peyton Matochampion the Ryan Williams treatment going into this season. It's almost like they intentionally wanted to **** the bed this year so they can look like they "brought back" this program.

If much rather have Tvd with a real OC and let JB get coached up, he needs a lot of work mechanically and with fundamentals. I would love to see him as a rs Soph more that’s a true dual threat. Not a crash test dummy slamming into the line every play. I’m thinking of the longterm reward.
One of the saddest things to see will be Jacurri getting ripped to pieces by the idiots on this board during and after the game. He’s going to make mistakes and is in his second start of his true freshman year. Clemson is going to load the box and like @OrangeBowlMagic said I doubt we are going to see a lot of yards against this defense.

I agree that he needs time to work on his mechanics. Waiting and coaching him up are best for both us and his confidence.

The only thing we can hope for is to stay healthy and to make it a competitive game instead of folding like a lawn chair as we do to most teams with a pulse.

I’ll gladly eat crow if I’m wrong but we haven’t been competitive against top 10 ranked teams (when unranked like we are) seemingly ever.

Interceptions don’t work like that sir and his passing limitations is not overstated. When you play a team that takes the run away what is he going to do? I like his upside but he has a lot of work to do

TVD also has a “lot of work to do” to improve on his 51.9 QBR rating so far this season. He currently isn’t an elite cfb QB or even an average NFL level QB. He was throwing ducks before he got hurt remember??

The run game is visibly better with Jaccuri at QB, the overall offense is visibly better with him at QB. If Clemson decides to sell out against the run then he will just throw the ball more and worse case scenario he’ll look no different than how TVD has looked this season.

Jaccurri just needs to play like he did in HS. Have fun, be free and use his legs when necessary. He'll probably be doing his throwing on the run today. the most important thing is the TE, WR and RB step up and do their jobs. CATCH the ball when it comes to them ( or near them)

If the DL can get pressure on DJ and keep him from running too much, it evens up the offense. No advantage for either team. It's going to come down to the Canes OL holding up against Clemson DL

You know he’s going to come out and try to “pound the rock, bro” with our trash offensive line.
I keep trying to tell myself he can’t be this dumb…I’ve said it starting in the off-season

You’re right though unfortunately

I hear you @Cribby but i disagree to a degree. Go ahead and full steam ahead with Jacurri. My logic is, if he's HIM, you're only going to get 2-3 years out of him anyways so why delay it? He should be the starter the rest of the season regardless of how healthy TVD is.

Better to put a lot of stuff on film so he can have relevant game play to study in the offseason and not garbage time game play to study against back ups.
I fully believe JB starts the remaining season.

He absolutely shouldn’t be playing. TVD got hurt and Jake broke his brain. Nobody should judge the final product on what we see today, assuming it’s bad. Clemson’s defense overall is miles better than we are in the trenches. They’ve won 39 games in a row at home. Jacurri as a passer/complete QB is a project. Those take some time. I’m glad he’s getting some experience today but ideally TVD comes back next year and he gets a full redshirt season.

The run game was better vs a teririble gt lol. Where was it vs fsu? And tvd was playing better before he got hurt. 2 games before he got hurt he threw for 888 yards 5tds and 1 pick while completing 68% of his passes. In the duke game which is the one he got hurt he was 11/16(68.8%), 81 yards and a td. In 18 games(only 14 was full games) he is 63% 36tds 10int. For a guy that still needs work that’s pretty good.

JB is a talent but I expect this to be a really tough game. Clemson isn't as stout as they have been in the past but they're still very solid. Their DL will pose a problem. JB will need his poise.

I hope Gattis won't have JB solely passing the ball in a phone booth or it's going to make things even tougher for JB (as he'll be throwing into heavy coverage a lot & Clemson will know our five passing plays down pat).

If we want to have our best chance to win, we should mix in some deep balls thrown by Garcia (after JB, the OL & RB have hopefully established the run game). That way, even if the passes are intercepted it will be like a punt anyway & we may be able to beat them deep with Colbie. It would also give JB a break...and I suspect he'll need that as he'll likely take a pounding.

TVD should rest & heal properly for the rest of this season. Like everyone else, I was tremendously impressed by his 5 straight games of 300+ yds. Was really pulling for him to have the same type of success this yr. However, when you look at his W-L record objectively over two seasons it's around .500 (that includes that hot stretch under Lashlee). I agree with another poster above that redzone scoring has also been an issue. In terms of results, reminds me a little of a much more streaky version of Kaaya (lot of yardage but no real signature wins -- only really Pitt last yr for TVD). He's 3-5 this year (and that includes some games against weak comp) with a QBR around 52. Struggled mightily early in many games. It's clearly not all TVD's fault. I don't think highly of Gattis as an OC, some of our WRs have been AWOL and there were also other contributing factors. A new OC would really help & so would greater bonding with his teammates (all throughout the year). When I watch the sidelines, I often see TVD out in front alone. Maybe others have seen more interaction with his teammates. I haven't on TV. Saying this not as a flame but to help TVD maybe approach things differently going forward. Bonding with teammates & getting timing down cold PRIOR TO THE SEASON would pay huge dividends going forward.

Go Canes!

TVD has thrown 4 interceptions this season.. if he played every game it would probably be closer to 8 interceptions or more. Jacurris passing limitations are overstated especially if he’s not turning the ball over.

A healthy Jacurri is better than a one armed TVD who can’t avoid pressure. Jacurri has always had the highest upside of all QBs on the team. It’s ok TVD had his moment but that’s over now… this is Jacurris team going forward.
Lol
