Charlie STrong would ****ing kill down here. He'd be great.

I'd be eh on Chud, but wouldn't be upset. But he would be a massive upgrade over Golden. Former NFL HC and coordinator who can put together a great coaching staff. Who knows if he can do the recruiting, but he would definitely have us better prepared on gameday.
Not sure how I feel about Chud. I never loved his offense when he was OC here. He had the luxury of having one of the most talented rosters in the history of CFB to work with at UM (although I suppose to his credit he didn't f*ck it up) and his NFL resume really isn't that impressive.

So question. If Golden did happen to leave, would you prefer a defensively minded coach, or one on the offense?

I think his NFL resume is actually pretty impressive as an OC. He's had good offenses everywhere he's been. I agree that his offense at UM was outdated, but that was a long time ago. I'm assuming he grew a lot as a coach since then. But his one year as an NFL HC was not impressive...but, a lot of great college head coaches can say the same thing.

Al would have left before, he had chances if he had been upset about Shapiro. Now it's over, he has a contract through February 1, 2020, an AD that he can work with and an administration that loves him. Add to that his wife loves Miami, his kids are happy and he had a Top 5 recruiting class that will get better by signing day. I don't believe he would give that up for a very difficult of people to work with at Penn State (per Bill O'Brien), 55 scholarship players and two more years of probation that may or may not be lifted. Al wanted this job and he has weathered the storm, PSU would be a bad career decision.

One reason Al could leave is the fact the admin was not upfront with him about the Shapiro mess. He was genuinly hurt when the news broke and he deserved better than that. Deep down he nay have never forgiven them.

I understand the concern, but the key is that he didnt eff it up.

LOL.....WUT?? Greatest offense in Miami history. Did wonders with Cam Newton. He turned the crappy browns into a top 10 offense.

He took the Panthers from the 32nd ranked offense to the 7th ranked in one year with a rookie QB. And you're not impressed? FOH

I'm down on Golden right now, but the thought of this recruiting class falling apart scares the **** out of me.

D, what do you think about Chud?

I'd need to do more homework, but my knee-jerk thought would be this: he could succeed if he surrounds himself with aggressive people who understand South Florida and understand this program. Guys like Coley.

Chud has been in the NFL for ten years and has steadily risen. There is no better mentor for offensive football than Norv Turner. Jedd Fisch showed us what NFL experience can do for a quarterback. Those are positives.

Guys like Jim Mora and Pete Carroll are major NFL-to-college success stories. Others like Mike Sherman and Mark Whipple (as OC) weren't as successful. The key for Chud would be surrounding himself with the right assistants. Chud hasn't coached college football in a decade.

I got a call yesterday. Source was another coach (not at UM). Rumors like this always come through the coaching community, so I took it with a grain of salt. But he said that Golden was concerned that the 2014 team (which is feeling the effects of poor 2011 and 2012 classes) would hurt his standing. His value is high now.

There is legit smoke here. If Golden leaves, I believe the first call will be to Rob Chudzinski.

Hurt his value? Did he plan on leaving along? No coach would say that who is trying to win championships here.

Heh... Guess Golden isn't too confident in his team with Ryan Williams at QB. I'm not sure why many on here think RW is going to be good..

If we hired Chud I guess that means Coley is gone. I don't want to lose that guy. He's a beast recruiter.

You'll can rip me to shreds, but I hope he stays. He is underpaid, relative to other ACC coaches. What D said made sense, he knows the next 2 years are going to be harder before getting back to where we need to be due to the 11 and 12 classes, but I still think he can pull this off, giving he fires Jethro and Dorito.

He leaves, we go back through the 3-4 year rebuild cycle all over again and get a coach that wants to use this as a launch pad instead of a destination location.

Just my opinion, and understand the negs that are coming, but just want some stability to the program.....
