Ive been screaming about this for several years now. People have been out of hand for a while now. Golden has obviously failed. He needs to go. There are ways fans can express their displeasure, but the toxicity around our fanbase right now is just off the charts. We aren't doing ourselves any favors for this program. We are stuck with Golden for another year. Its perfectly acceptable to write letters to the AD, to the BOT, cancel tickets, express displeasure, but some of the over the top bashing on twitter and online, people saying stupid sh*t to our players, our recruits, their families, etc.... its just gotten totally out of control.

Golden absolutely has to go. He is the single biggest problem for this program right now, but the fans are not helping things at ALL.

Its bad enough trying to beg kids to come here with the situation we have, but when our fans are actively telling recruits they are stupid if they come here, what else would people expect? And THAT is what just drives me nuts. We are desperately trying to land a kid, maybe he's on the fence, 50/50, he already obviously has concerns about the current ****ty state of the program, and then while he's trying to make up his mind, our fans are basically telling him NOT to come here, that he's a moron if he does, he will ruin his career, etc.. basically negatively recruiting AGAINST UM, and THEN, they cry and flip out when the kid doesn't come.

AGAIN, our record and our failed staff is by far the most significant reason recruiting has all but collapsed for us. But the hysteria of some of our fans is only making things worse as far as recruiting. WHOEVER the next coach is, is going to need some talent and players to work with and rebuild. So I don't see how working to further sabotage our future is going to improve anything. Some cats need to take it down a notch and really think about what they are trying to accomplish.

Lets just be smart about it, and consider what it is we are trying to accomplish here. Trashing the program and telling recruits we DESPERATELY NEED, and who are on the fence about coming here, that they are morons to come here and actively pushing them away from UM is going to do what exactly? Is that going to get Al Golden fired before next season? Nope. He's here for next season. Is it going to help the next HC once Golden is gone rebuild the program? NOPE.

So what is gained with this over the top bull**** on recruiting boards and social media? You want to march on the Hecht with signs? Fine. Call the AD, cancel tickets, etc... great. But trashing the program on these boards and social media and telling recruits NOT to come, and then getting ****ED when they don't, is self destructive and idiotic. We are in bad enough shape with the "dead man walking" situation we have already. Why make it worse? The next coach is going to need something to work with.

And THAT's the bottom line. Golden has pretty much signed his ticket. He's pretty much done. At this point this is just a waiting game over money. Its about the FUTURE of this program now. And that future NEEDS talent. For the next staff. Golden will be fired when UM feels it can eat his buyout, which we all PRAY will be after next season. At this point, having a horrible recruiting class, which was almost guaranteed by our dismal season and collapse, is only being made worse with all the hysteria. It's not going to get Golden fired any sooner than he is already going to be.

I've let this post go by about a half dozen times but I guess Im gonna unload on furd for being the 1 millionth customer. lol


Look man - what the **** do you want us to do as moderators? Hold back the tide? Change the rotation of the earth? Seriously? Ive been a Canes fan since my early childhood in the mid-1970's. Ive been a moderator on various Canes sites for well over a decade now. I can say that I've never seen anything like the level of anger we're now seeing from Miami Hurricanes fans. ****, Im one of them.

Most days we do our best here, but after the South Carolina bowl loss and subsequent arrogant statement from blake james we had an internal meeting here and decided that we needed to step aside and let it melt down. That might sound strange to you but that was our best hope for maintaining *some* level of control over the discussion.

The problems are much larger than a bunch of angry fans. The University of Miami is run by a group of people who clearly have a high level of distain for the residents of the city from which the university draws its name. Those citizens finally noticed it. Again, what can we really do? Ban everyone for telling the truth? (i know how donna would answer that one - lol)

Well said. Have those arguing that porsters are the problem considered that if we all pretended that the program was in awesome shape and upgraded our Hurricane Club giving and season tickets to show we are true fans, there will never be any change here? They note that this is the most toxic environment ever witnessed, yet no one in the admin has come out, acknowledged the issues, and vowed to address them. We are supposed to sit still? The situation will only get more toxic until steps are taken to correct the program. The program will not get better by correcting the fans or by deleting their threads.

Its actually more morose than that. The Athletic Department chose to send its people out to the various Canes websites to attempt to control the message. We kept a file here of the folks that came here. ****, a couple were stupid enough to sign up using their @miami.edu e mail addresses. lol. What's every more funny is that they all post in the exact same style (all lower case, no punctuation, etc.). I have no doubt that these guys actually held a meeting at Hecht on how to go about infiltrating our very open discussion forum. LMAO. Only UM could pull **** like this.

They simply do not get it.
 
Kendrick Norton is quality get. Athletic big body with major offers. He's a NT in this scheme, possibly an OG if the new coach moves in a different direction.

Lmao at the dolts who were still rooting for him to succeed and are now disappointed in Al Golden yet again.

Agreed. There has been nothing redeemable around here for months, and likewise on Canes sites with a similar frothing obsession. The dialog is not clever. Not interesting. Not valuable in the slightest, either currently applied or going forward. Hatred and fear are not attractants. I have no idea how anyone expects recruits or coaches or even undeclared fans to try a sample and think, yep, that's the group I want to join.

It shouldn't be this pathetic. I joined Dolphin sites when Wannstedt was coach. For all the disdain in his direction, you could still easily wade through it and identify reasonable posters with impressive info and perspective. Likewise on USC forums during the end of the Hackett years, and more recently under Kiffin.

I have to say the Rosa Parks comparison was hilarious. Particularly from a moderator. Score one point, even if it's merely another predictable SAM, desperate to inject politics where it doesn't threaten to belong. To retreat more than 50 years for the desperation was ultra special. Actually I've seen moderators here take some of the wildest swings of all, like Tiger Woods last week en route to 82.

IMO, our recruiting trend once again makes perfect sense. I predicted it in 2007 and countless times subsequently. Nothing good is going to happen in this stadium. Sure, the kids may like the sound of playing for the University of Miami, and the coaches come across well in first impression. Lots of swell early commitments. But once they get a glimpse of what true college football is like at schools with on-campus venues and all the natural benefits, we're going to leak late virtually every year. Obviously the Bar Stoolers will fixate on specific kids, saying X was the reason with this guy and Y was the tipping point with that guy. That type forever is content to allow the big picture to fly over his head while making one wild subjective stab after another. Bottom line, with so much competition we can't afford to sacrifice a vital few percent in a critical area. The 50/50 kids aren't really 50/50 under those conditions. Sure, a very rare guy leading the program can add let's say 10% and reverse the expectancy, but that's likely to be short term and fleeting.

I think most of us just wanted the Miami Hurricanes to succeed, regardless of who the coach is. We want it for the players, fans, alumni, families... I don't know of anyone who wanted us to win for Al Golden. We just want to win.

You can pretty much chalk up a loss in all aspects football from now until he's gone.

Expecting anything more is insanity in its essence.
 
Hey, it's great to have a place to vent. No one can be happy with the head coach, direction of the football program or overall culture with regards to athletics - facilities, coaching salaries and a host of other expenditures, as well as pathetic game attendance. It's sad to see a once proud program crash and burn. So fans need to be heard . . . but this board has gotten out of control when it comes to relentless personal attacks towards everyone from the university president to the ball boy. Again, speak up. But it just diminishes the insightful thoughts and passion heard around here when folks resort to immature, trashy name calling.
