On October 1, 1937 the Miami Hurricanes defeated Ga State Teachers College (now Georgia Southern) 40-0 in the FIRST GAME played in Roddey Burdine Orange Bowl Stadium... later known simply as The Orange Bowl. Sorry a day late, traveling yesterday

Flashback to a better time in the world, when EVERYONE enjoyed No Blockie!

So many good memories . Five days after my son was born was that last “fan event” where they allowed fans to visit on the field before they tore it down . My wife and family *****ing at me for taking him out there so young but zero ***** were given on my part.

Still have that picture of me holding my newborn in the east end zone on my office desk.

A little trivia
First undefeated season 1927. Our first year of football and all freshmen. Freshmen were not allowed to play varsity untill 1972.
Red Grange wanted to be our coach in the late 30,s but the miami president vetoed the deal because 7200 a year was way to much to pay a coach
Wow time changed everything

The University of Miami has done enough for that city to have earned their own mini Orange Bowl. Somewhere...Somehow.

There has never been a home field advantage quite like that...it was our home.
58 straight sorta proves your point! Been to plenty of stadiums throughout the country and there are some great environments, but the OB was in a class of its’ own.
