Observation about Nesta

All this talk and no video of Nesta using a human carcass to block a punt?

(sorry best video I could find)

Kid is as advertised. You can see he is a leader and expects to dominate regardless of who lines up in front of him.

Coming off of a big loss playing a team like SSU it has let down potential all over it but the defense and guys like Nesta especially played with a lot of energy and emotion and really demoralized those guys throughout the game.

Oops, didn’t mean those question marks.

Crushed one blocker into the punter and then hit The punter again. Not done yet, he speared someone else on the goal line. This boy need to play both way—looks like the guard on the team too.

For real though, we could use him on the o-line

Funny that you say that because after rewatching the game I said to myself all of this talk about Ford and bethel was just that; talk. We need to hit on another bigtime DT in the 19 class. Legit depth is how you compete every year.

I also think Miller has a chance. Conditioning will be huge for him though.

Agree on Miller. He wasn't good on Saturday but he has had really nice moments in practice. He has natural flexibility, mass and first step, along with what appears to be a good competitive nature. He needs to get in shape.

Ford is frustrating. He has flashed in practice but is inconsistent and looked bad on Saturday. Still, he's only a sophomore and came in to Miami very raw (basketball player).

Bethel is just a blue-collar backup. Tito is stopgap.

Ford is a good young DT.

I thought this too until I saw him fail to dominate against an opponent who had OL that wouldn't even be on our scout team. Ford should have looked dominant and didn't. That worries me. How can we count on him when we play VTech and BC? Bethel as well.

You can tell Willis almost lobbies for Nesta to play beside him when speaking about him to the media. He knows the other guys, while they try, just don't have "it". We need to give Nesta reps now while we are playing scrubs so he can gain experience.

Ford and Bethel and Tito will still be needed when we get into conference play as Nesta will more then certainly hit the freshmen wall later in the year as all freshmen do when relied upon too much in the trenches. But we need to get him involved as early as possible.

Willis is no doubt a great player. The only knock I could say is he sometimes tries to hard to slip blocks on running plays and is taken out of the play. I noticed it multiple times Saturday. He has some quick hands, I can tell you that but when he doesn't get leverage he is driven out pretty easily.

The 2 DTs from last year leaving hurt as real bad. We would have a fearsome 4 with Willis, and Nesta and those 2. Then go get cut

I would play ford and willis together. Ford is big and would take up blocks allowing willis to shoot gaps. I would play Nesta and Tito and let Nesta shoot gaps.

what happened to T martin is he still on the team?

He’s gotta be one of our all time jags and it was Kuls biggest recruiting contribution here

And your first comment is precisely why I'm so concerned with our approach to the interior defensive line this recruiting cycle.

I had this concern when we jumped on Miller late last season, and I'm even more concerned now that we're hastily running up to New York.

Yep. Not a fan. We need four and five star beasts from so fla and the south, not 3 stars from new york.

Bethel was always a serviceable and admirable player but someone who should never advance beyond third team if we had legitimate national championship caliber defensive tackles.

Jon Ford is pure classic Happy Adjuster. That type of player is the reason to avoid spring talk around here. They can't help the itch to hype one or two guys exponentially beyond any ability or worth. But so easy to spot who the candidates will be I was already mocking the Ford hype long before spring.

Miller I don't know about. Haven't watched enough but he was intriguing on frame alone.

Silvera is a bouncy swagger athletic type so you have to use Sapp as most hopeful comparison, even if it's massive underdog he'll ever approach that level. Maybe combo of Sapp and Maryland if you want to logically lower expectations and athleticism somewhat but still remain loyalty to basic style and agility.

I worry he might play too narrow initially. That's the tendency with the agile defensive tackles with that type of movement.

When Nesta to develops a legit counter move to his bull rush.. he may indeed be a great one.
