Observation about Nesta

Because he was a productive dlineman in highschool with elite size and good film. He’s still a young guy and will develop
the staff clearly doesnt think he's ready. part of the problem is we lack depth and he came in lack and probably should have redshirted.

im not horrified by bethal. we just need to step DL recruiting up moving forward

He had more of an impact than the other dts in the game vs the same competition. Needs to be taking some of the backup dts reps for sure

That's hard to judge as he got in late and was fresh while his opponents were beat to **** and back. This was just like high school for him though playing those guys and he looked good in the opportunity given to him.

He got in a few plays in the second quarter as well and made a play or 2. Plus Tito and ford played well within the second half vs the same comp and he was more effective

we are lucky nesta recruited himself because kool let us in the dry otherwise.
once he gets his technique improved, gosh he's going to be dangerous.

The talent isn’t good enough in front of Nesta to redshirt him... plus even if it was a bunch of talent in front of him he still would play. he was the # 2 dt in the country for a reason. And imo it has nothing to do with him being ready or not, you know how many talented freshman didn’t play in the LSU game? Rousseau who the coaches have raved about all year didn’t receive one snap in the base defense , mark pope, Lorenzo Lingard, Silvera just to name a few:

i meant redshirt ford.

Him and Willis are Miami DT's. The rest are fill-in guys. I paid close attention to all of them and they're pedestrian. But Silvera and Willis are legit. They need to be playing together.
This is inexcusable and a huge reason as to why we are no where near elite.

I would love to see Willis and Nesta as the starting DT's, but doesn't Diaz/Simpson have them playing the same position as the 3 technique DT's?

Nesta represents his family well. We really miss DJ Johnson and I think that was the worst failure of Kool's regime.

Was he happy with just blowing up that dude on the blocked punt?
No.
First thing he did was look for someone else to destroy.
I saw that too and it made me laugh!! His tenacity was actually hilarious in all the right ways. He's a straight up mutant renegade robo-cop!

He tried to rip the ball out the play before the punt block. Nesta with the chain will be fun.

I was thinking he is a mix of Sapp, Cortez, Maryland, Aaron Donald, ndamukan suh, Gerald McCoy and Vince Wilfork. Something like that lol

But the most savage part of the punt block imo was when he drilled the dude into the ground during a last second block for Patchan lol

Our (interior) DL looks like a DL should look when you recruit a bunch of lower rated kids. Coincidentally the two highest ranked kids stick out like sore thumbs.

I really don't care to hear any mumbo jumbo about "they have time to develop yada yada yada". You either have a get-off or you don't. You either have tenacity or you don't. Those traits should've been developed for the last 18-20 years.

Ford is pedestrian, just an extremely big body that doesn't move particularly well. And Miller, OMG, lol. He was awful against SSU. A guy his size should not be moved so easily. He got absolutely bullied a couple times by a single blocker. Don't give me this nonsense about him being a Freshman either. We're Miami. Our Freshman should be better than SSU's upperclassmen. Nesta's a Freshman too and he was tossing SSU Linemen like they were infants.

DL and OL play is the biggest different between us and the elite teams IMO. We are so far behind it's sad.

He plays like a lunatic. There’s no question that he and Willis are our 2 impact DTs. They’re the only 2 on the roster.

A couple of the other guys can be good players eventually like Norton and McIntosh were. But these 2 are guys that scare the fck out of opposing OCs because they can destroy gameplans like Clemson’s DTs did last year.

Everyone not named Willis should be considered as still competing for the job, and should all rotate, until we see who the real # 2 man is.

And your first comment is precisely why I'm so concerned with our approach to the interior defensive line this recruiting cycle.

I had this concern when we jumped on Miller late last season, and I'm even more concerned now that we're hastily running up to New York.
