They also had a QB who started 3 seasons prior. Carr and Minchey have a combined 3 passing attempts

The offense also had zero to do with winning that game. ND’s defense completely smothered Weigman, who was god awful in that game and got benched soon thereafter.

ND only had 350 yards of offense and Leonard made Riley Williams look like Peyton Manning.

Their defense should be top 10-15 in the country. Whatever we run on them will be earned.
It’s much better than that. Their ends are elite, their DTs are good to average. Our offense is elite, and we will move the football and score points.

ND isn’t that good overall as media is leading….their QB ain’t throw a pass in a college football game EVER!

I think the hype is just rolling over from last years team because they were in the natty.

Just go pound for pound if you have time and you’ll see it’s not that juggernaut top 5 team.

Career stats for the possible leader for ND QB:

Passing: 3-3 for 16 yards no TDs

Rushing: 12 yards and a TD

They have a new DC too, just like us. Freeman will have them coached well but when the bullets are live, Chris Ash is calling plays for the first time in 5 years. They gonna be on the same page every snap?

This has never stopped journeymen QB's from post All-American stats specifically vs. US. But - I think the complete lack of experience combined with stadium environment AND our dudes... wont bode well for ND QB. So unless they Love us to death and we allow it -- we should be able to win by a TD.

I’m in this boat.

Wrong. ND had 200yds rushing at 6YPC. A&M only gave up 130 yds rushing @3.8YPC in the SEC. The threat of Leonard on the ground was their whole offense. They didn't get their passing game going until the playoffs.
That and Weigman sucked

I don't think their D will be as good as last season. I don't believe their new DT's get pressure inside. Their is no standout DL returning for them. Their hoping a Bryce Young breaks out. I don't see pressure on Beck. Their run D could be better. Their LB room would be their strength to me. Daniels is going to have to make contested catches against CB L. Moore. He's a problem. The other CB played well at times last season, but had periods of not impressive play in several games last season. The 1 returning S played pretty good, but they lost S Watts and 1 starting CB. They brought in a Nickel transfer from Bama, Smith. I think Beck will have time and Moore is the 1 secondary guy I am worried about. We have the crowd, humidity and a 6th year QB. Contain their rush to under a 150 yards and I like the Canes in this game. This will be the best OL, RB, WR and DB we face this season and I think we still win. Go Canes!

I haven’t take a close look at their film but their DL is underwhelming. Not much productivity or experience from that unit last year. Freeman is a good defensive mind but with the starters lost along with a new DC, their defense is vulnerable.

What makes you say their ends are elite? Neither were full time starters last year and they’re both undersized, converted linebackers.

The two starters were injured early in the season & didn’t play past week 5.
The 2nd & 3rd string guys were the ones who played the rest of the regular season & then 4 playoff games.
All of them are back, including the original two starters.
They will rotate 6 dudes at those two spots.
Traore & Botehlo both were injured early. So was Burnham. Traore & Bitehlo were season-ending. Burnham came back later. ND was forced to play two true freshman in the 2-deep, Young & Thomas. They also moved a MLB to DE, Tululamaka.
So they played most of the regular season & 4 top 10 teams in a row with a converted MLB, an injured DE, & two true freshmen. All four of them are back along with the original two starters. And it’s being reported by their sites they plan on playing all six.
With the DT’s, they are planning on playing 6. They were undersized last year with Mills’s injury & Onye leaving the team (he’s back now) and Rubio’s injury.
This year they are way bigger at DT. Rubio, Onye, Dawson (portal kid) are all well over 300 lbs., along with 2 others over 300. Only smaller kid this year is the Hinisch kid who had multiple sacks against Georgia in the CFP. All their injuries last year allowed a lot of kids to get large amounts of high pressure snaps.

Yes, and they had 150 passing yards. 5.3 a pass, which is worst in the country numbers. The game was 13-13 at the 2:00 minute warning. Weigman was awful. So was ND’s offense. They averaged 5.56 YPP. That’s terrible.

Freeman’s final presser about to start.
Definitely will get asked about the QB.

Thanks for the info. Their DTs may be 300 but they don’t play like war daddy types. Not all 300 pounders are built alike. Have watched their highlights and they are okay. I think they are vulnerable up the middle.

Honestly, I think we match up great against ND. We have the advantage in virtually every unit. Even in spots where everyone swears they have the advantage (CB/RB), I’d argue those position rooms on our side are better or just as good.

Their passing game was dog**** all year. He was under 200 most of the year until the last 2 games when they were forced to open it up against PSU and OSU. His high before that was 230 vs Stanford.
200yds rushing against AM and their front in the road isn't nothing is all im saying.
In regards to the Miami game, good thing Beck isn't Weigman
