Not an OL coach but did they

ROFL, You will address him as possible future all ACC and 1st round draft pick sir! Especially after he gets another year in the S&C program!

I don't disagree Calvin. He's been put in a tough spot for a true freshman. He will be a stud by junior season if he's coached

Honestly, when he's on point, you can see the talent, he makes more good plays than bad, but t g e majority of his issues all year have been on coach enos already, tha t one delusional ****!

Jakai Clark has been pretty solid.

They need NOT to pull Donaldson..let him block straight ahead down hill.

Nelson is still doing the same stuff he has been here..but hes a freshman and they dont want to play anyone else there soooo..its what we will have to deal with...2 sacks and abou 4-5 hurries a game just on him and his inexperience/strength.

Pass protection against Pitt is how I thought they'd do it against the Gators, chip or keep in TEs to help, and quick release passes. I'm still at a loss of why we didn't do that more as the sacks mounted up. I didn't see Jordan involved as much in routes because he was blocking.

Agree Calvin. Also it's difficult for 18/19 year old LTs to play against 21-23 year old grown *** men.

60, 55 and 65 seem to be the problems usually, with 65 being mainly a communication thing.

Zion and Donaldson get whooped though. Zion had his usual rough outing. Scaife was beat once that I saw, but was pretty solid otherwise. Jakai is fine, IMO.

Donaldson was OK for most of it, but he is too out of shape. They pulled him on that drive because he got beat by a LB a play before and just looked fatigued. Watching him pull is like watching a garbage truck do a three-point turn.
You literally have no idea what you’re watching. Zion was our 3rd highest rated player by pro football focus. Scaife 3rd from bottom. You must see 1-2 and form an opinion that doesn’t include the 65 others where you didn’t see them block fine

And you take PFF seriously... :rk5i6fxwjlgev5j6.jpg::rk5i6fxwjlgev5j6.jpg::rk5i6fxwjlgev5j6.jpg:

It's no more than a glorified pitch count in baseball. It's not for conclusive evidence.

They'll give Donaldson a +1 based on their algorithm because he didn't lose a rep against air, but if you're watching the game and see him trying to pull at the speed of a garbage truck doing a three-point turn you will have a much better idea of how he played.

The irony is the OL did better against Pitt (led the nation in sacks per game IIRC) and UVA (2nd in the nation in sacks per game IIRC)

Would like to see them play Irvin more to help Zion so Brevin can get more targets.

You can run some good stuff in 12 from shotgun, especially using Brevin as a slot/ h back.

What enos already did in the 1st game with nelson was pathetic and what he said after the game with jarren was even more pathetic, this not the pro's, its easy to see why he failed at Central Michigan, he has some growing up to do! Im all for a coach coaching the players hard but at the college level, any coach calling out a player in the public for an error in the way enos already did is delusional, might be an inside job!

I think Jordan is the better blocker. You still have to work at chipping or a double team, plenty can go wrong. That's good DL beat them at times. So if you have a TE with not as much physicality or technique, you kind of have to send him on the routs and let the blocking TE do work in the trench.

Brevin is better at everything.

The point is to get Irvin in some more because he blocks better than Mallory, who is often terrible.

Mallory isn’t giving us much receiving, so using Irvin can allow us to get some more targets to Brevin.

I do agree Brevin should continue to help blocking, but he is one of our two most consistent receivers. Having him helping Zion hurts us downfield.

If we can get Zion help and get more targets to Brevin, that is a win all around.

I just heard an interview with Brian Kelly where he discussed his first round OL (Nelson, Stanley, McGinchley Staley) . He made it a point to say they did not play as freshmen and were not recruited to play as freshmen. He believes in identifying athletic, long body types and developing them slowly. He also coached Jason Kelce and Joe Staley, neither of whom played OL as freshmen.

That's one reason I'm still bullish on Zion. He shouldn't be playing, but he's shown a ton of mental toughness in continuing to battle and his athleticism flashes multiple times a game.

Lol, OL was putrid in second half.

Exactly, though to be fair, with this OL, a slight improvement for a half is pretty huge. 64 yards rushing and 10/24 for 104 isn't much to write home about, but it could have been worse.

Jarren Williams at 4/8 for 50 and a TD.....that's what we need to see more of....6/8 if possible..lol
