noles HATE this Norvell character.

But if her daughter got pneumonia from the flu? Or was killed by a drunk driver? Or stabbed during a robbery?

She also got sick in March when the "experts" were telling everyone that they didn't need PPE.

I get that these anecdotal stories tear at heartstrings, but we will never live in Nerf World.
Biggest problem with today's social media highlight society is that everyone convinces themselves that the one dramatic instance circulating to millions on social media or on the 24/7 news channels is the norm. Leads to panic and overreaction.

i have never been a covid denier but the entire idea of the lockdowns was supposed to be to slow the spread so that hospitals don't get overrun. there is risk any time a kid or adult interacts with another person and young people are going to do that with or without football. i just don't see the reason people are so reluctant to let them play. i think the big10 and the pac12 are full of it with that heart condition they are talking about. if it was a proven thing the players unions in MLB and NFL would have protested more.

i know it came out all the presidents agreed previously (which i cant quite get why we still have multiple meetings if they already put out a statement), but what bernie 2.0 has said does give something to look at -- BC, Cuse, etc. do have an earlier fall (colder weather earlier). hopefully, they remain on the same page again. if not, delay it and see where it goes in a month and half.

side note: all these hedges make me nervous. Bama AD said our goal is to play in the fall right now but well adjust and we will continue to adjust if necessary.

basically, hopefully we kick in a month but it seems itll be a back and forth daily or weekly
The ACC/SEC talking points remind me of the Big 10 when they came with their revised schedule. Then they kept pushing the envelope, conference calls daily, no contact practices, conference meeting, season canceled which my guy said was a distinct possibility 6 weeks ago. Now I am seeing the same scenario developing in the ACC/SEC with plenty up in the air and I hope I’m wrong but to me the season is in huge jeopardy.

well see. like i said, if theyre unsure, come out and say youre unsure and dont just put out some good news presser. if youre unsure, delay the start to give you more time. it wouldnt be hard either (as it stands that 11th game is pretty meaningless esp if safety of your athletes is paramount in terms of everyone being subject to the same protocols)

Yes and no. These types of mother’s move people. Speed limits were lowered because of these types of mothers. Blood Alcohol level were lowered because of these types of mothers. Seat belts and child safety seats are because of these types of mothers.

So, I get your point, but these types of mothers are a Congress members worse nightmare.

@Bernie 2-0 any concern with the NCAA chief medical coming out with his statement?
Sure. Plus each schools med experts have a say. Contrary to popular believe this is not a hoax
In the Big Ten medical experts all have their say. Again this is not about politics and there’s 780 million reasons why it is not. Additionally the director of the CDC just issued a statement saying we are looking at the worst fall ever In terms of public health and that doesn’t help the situation

Norvell talking about contact tracing policy, when asked if he believed player frustration was over testing results/knowledge of those results.

Says they go through steps of who they have been around, were they wearing a mask, etc.

This response is where I sense a degree craftiness and dishonesty from F$U. If a player tests positive once practices have begun, the contract tracing population would seem to be everyone else who attend those practices.

my entire family is in medicine so im not a hoaxer like some of the board. we all understand the potential for grave harm is lower in younger people, but the long term effects is still unknown so its about how much risk each school and conference is willing to take. the hope is we play and no one gets sick and canes actually do something useful on the field

pretty much unless theyve broken up their practices with diff groups to be out there at diff times (for now, which i doubt)

i think if this is going to work teams need to test multiple times per week.

yes and gonna take a ton of sacrifice from players to not be around other students partying and id also move all players to a player only dorm or hotel to live in during the season (to avoid off campus residences where players may share with others and also puts them in contact with more than just the players theyre around everyday).

Students have been coming on the U's campus this week. Everything is set up in a proactive way. Plenty of distance and protocol. Its not rocket science. Blowhards are always going to find some negative...

The worst thing that could have happened today was for this FSU stuff to hit the public. Not to take away from genuine concerns - or lessen them. But I just don't understand how in the world ANYONE on FSU staff didn't think this would come out....

"According to sources close to the situation, the concerns reached a boiling point on Tuesday, when Florida State athletic director David Coburn said during a roundtable discussion with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis that the school was doing weekly testing. In fact, the school has not tested that often throughout the summer, and the testing results largely have been kept private -- even from players. Sources said some players have been tested just three or four times since returning to campus.

Neither Norvell nor Coburn immediately corrected the information.

Additional concerns were raised when Matthews tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday. Players believed Matthews had felt sick prior to testing but was still able to participate in position meetings, which led to quarantines for others.

Thompson's words were echoed by Terry's mother, Cindy Rewis, who tweeted, "We need answers and we want the truth."

Rewis specifically called for Norvell to address concerns raised by parents and players. She said that weekly testing has not taken place and that players who have tested positive have been told to remain silent."

I keep it real. Always will on this board. I don’t think it’s “anti-UM” to say water is wet. I know many of you don’t like to discuss Miami’s recent struggles. But they are and have been there.
Keep your water wet in the numerous other threads that question UM and Mandy. This is about bashing and mocking fsu. Fall in line or catch a band

But they also had data on their side. Unless someone can provide a credible source showing scores of deaths, they're not canceling a voluntary activity.

We've already given in too much to panic. Things can only get uglier if people can't get back to their bread and circuses.
