Manny would take the FSU job because he’s an idiot but it’s a terrible career move. He’s got it made at a place like Duke where he won’t have to worry about recruiting the elite players needed to win championships. He can go 8-4 at Duke forever and get renewed until he retires. At FSU he’s going to be expected to win 10 games every year and in order to do that, he’s going to need to recruit guys higher than 3 stars.

If they hire Manny, which doesn’t seem super likely to me right now, but who knows, wait until they find out what an absolutely horrible recruiter he is. That was his major failing in my view.

Take for example linebacker. Manny was supposed to be a specialist with respect to the linebacker position, and look at our linebacker recruiting from his first year onward. Absolutely horrific. He couldn’t land anybody. All the decent linebackers were signed prior to his tenure as head coach.
