I love these arguments. “He’s mid”. There are 138 FBS programs. “Mid” would put him at what, the 69th best coach? You can name 68 active FBS coaches better than James Franklin? I bet you would struggle to name more than 10. He’s not elite but he’s in the upper echelon of coaches.

Castellanos had more passing yards than Jordan Travis did in 2023 on fewer attempts. He also outgained him on the ground 557-176. With a much weaker supporting cast. He did throw 6 more interceptions but is that extra half an interception per game the difference between 13-0 and 5-7? Ca

2025 FSU might be 6-6 with Jordan Travis. Their talent levels from 2022/23 to 2025 aren’t even comparable.

Careful with the Castellanos-Travis comparisons. Let's not forget, Jordan Travis only played 10.1 games that year.

Also, in F$U's seven losses, the opponents scored 20, 21, 24, and 28 in four of them (and two of those losses were by double-digits). So...yeah, a bit more offensive production could have won them more games, so I'm going to look to the QB here. Not JUST Castellanos, but he was a big part of their failure in 2025.

F$U is a mess, from the QB on down the roster.

🧢 disagree their Oline has been trash for years and defense is trash with no depth. No LBers with talent and no elite dlineman… they would’ve found ways to lose multiple winnable games regardless.

We already learned this is the case during our 20+ year period of mediocrity. Even if you have a good QB, the lack of a well-rounded roster is going to cost you.

That’s a huge indictment on a “developer” with a “good offensive mind” that he can’t have decent QB play after having been the HC for years.

You can play the what if game with us too, if we had Cam last year we go 16-0 and probably don’t have a close game all year. It’s a useless argument.
 
I will borrow an argument that I heard from my stepfather to his son (RIP). My stepfather is a die hard canes fan, made me a canes fan, but his son was a die hard noles fan. They were arguing about Jimbo Fisher leaving and the bus driver having a bad season, and the conversation went something like this:

"We'll be competiive this year Dad."

"Son, you don't get it. Your team literally had Bobby Bowden and then you lucked into Jimbo Fisher. This Willie Wonka guy is not gonna be the guy. You're about to experience the pain our team has felt the past fifteen years."

"You just don't understand, Taggert is a great recruiter...(etc etc)"

And when push came to shove, what was predicted came to be. Catching lightning in a bottle is a lot harder than people think it is; powerhouse school or no.

FSU is a 3 year rebuild to be a CFP caliber team. A good coach and decent portal haul gets them to 7-8 wins year 1 without a problem. The rest is tougher though.

Their biggest issue is that they don’t have the $$$ to compete right now. They made multiple bad bets on how to use their resources. One big reason why they’re so desperate to get their hospital system going (other than it being needed for AAU) is that they need a new stream of revenue to pull from.

Thing is the next coach is not going to be someone with name recognition that might get some kids to come just because of him .Its going to be an OC from a P4 or a G5 guy cause that’s all they’ll be able to afford.

It’s one thing just to spit out something just because it’s America and you can without recourse but it’s another thing to spit something out and have some kind of evidence,any thing that backs up your garbage.

Don’t see anyone accusing aTm of any of this even though they’re out there spending millions buying up 1/2 the 5 stars in the class.
