Tears Nole Tears (“Offcial”)

I will borrow an argument that I heard from my stepfather to his son (RIP). My stepfather is a die hard canes fan, made me a canes fan, but his son was a die hard noles fan. They were arguing about Jimbo Fisher leaving and the bus driver having a bad season, and the conversation went something like this:

"We'll be competiive this year Dad."

"Son, you don't get it. Your team literally had Bobby Bowden and then you lucked into Jimbo Fisher. This Willie Wonka guy is not gonna be the guy. You're about to experience the pain our team has felt the past fifteen years."

"You just don't understand, Taggert is a great recruiter...(etc etc)"

And when push came to shove, what was predicted came to be. Catching lightning in a bottle is a lot harder than people think it is; powerhouse school or no.
Texas, with all of their resources, struggled for the better part of a decade. I think we had a better record than UT in the 2010s.

At the start of the 2024 season, after they lost in Dublin to open the year against Georgia Tech, one of their fans went on social media and said if they lost the following game, which was the home opener on Labor Day night to Boston College, he'd eat dog **** out of a cup and video it.

Obviously that got some attention, and then went nuclear once they lost the game, which wasn't even very competitive. So everyone went after the guy demanding he pay his bet and eat the ****. Which, of course, he never did and deleted all his accounts. So everyone said he cursed the entire season by reneging on his bet.

And they've been open *** ever since, going 7-17 the last 2 seasons. And in case you're scoring at home, the last time Miami won 7 or fewer in combined seasons was 1976-1977, when we combined to go 6-16.

So, FSU is worse than Miami has been in 50 years. Hate to see it. Buddy better slurp up that dog**** ASAP.
You forgot the part where the guy came back, temporarily, after deleting his accounts, only to put up a FAKE video of him not actually eating the dog **** but trying to pass it off as real. The internet did its thing, and rightfully bullied him back off. My theory is that FSU’s curse was worsened by this fraudulent move.

Excellent post.

If I remember correctly, it wasn't the original guy who made the fake video, but some random FSU fan claiming to be him. I recall reading a thread on r/CFB where some folks did some sleuthing and found that out.

Them going 2-10 was karma for not eating dog sh*t.

Was it really? Haha that’s hilarious!

They deserve all the losses, no matter what.

Obviously, our resurgence has been a highlight, recruiting and results-wise, these last couple of years, but I have to say, watching FSU circle the toilet has been incredibly satisfying,. Just waiting for that final flush.
Say, watching them commit hara-kiri when our admin announces we’re moving to the Big 10 and theirs announces they’re staying put…or worse?

Here's a hypothetical question. If you were FSU with the resources that you have, how would you approach recruiting now? Would it be to go after what the old Dolphins GM a dozen years ago used to call "acorns"....i.e., high upside, lower rated kids, and completely avoid the arms race for blue chips? Save your NIL money to re-sign your high school recruits who outperformed?
In today’s game you have to do both and I don’t think they have the finances or even the want at this point to do anything until they can afford to get rid of Norvell .
I gotta believe at this point I think they believe there’s no sense wasting money on him because they’ve finally reached the conclusion they screwed up and hired a loser.

Problem is doing this if indeed it is what they’ve resigned to do it is going to set this program back multiple years cause it will cost them 50M+ for the next 2-3 years to put even a competitive team on the field so what they are doing is just digging themselves a hole they might not be able to get out of for a decade or so even with the portal.

Then you have a bigger problem….what coach in his right mind is going to come in an take over a P5 program who has a roster so devoid of talent they probably aren’t capable of competing in D-3 but will be expected to win in the next couple years. That coach would be nuts to take the job.Go take a lesser job, do a good job there and then you walk into a program that at least has a chance of winning.

They are SCREWED.
If they commit to a real budget for the next coach, they can turn this around in a few years. They’ll need to spend and hire a decent coach (doubtful), but anybody with a pulse and a few bucks can get them back to 8+ wins.

I hate to say this, but they aren’t done forever. They’ll un**** themselves in the next few years and get back to being mediocre.

They can't afford to go after 5 stars - they don't have the money. They're going to have to take the approach that Butch did back in 96-97 when we were short on schollies, were under probation and needless to say, didn't have a lot going for us. He was a master talent evaluator and focused on very high character guys who loved ball and were really solid players. That was easier to luck into back then because of the lack of internet but it requires a keen eye for talent. Norvell is going to have to focus on 2-3 stars and fringe 4 and look for high character guys who can play and maybe are recruiting after thoughts for the big boys.
Luckily for them he’s shown the ability to do just that

🤣
