No Pena, No Haulcy, No LB, No DTs, No #1 WR…

Nah he’s not elite but compared to others we had he’s elite to those guys. Hes elite at working hard for a recruit but I wouldn’t put him in the Lanning Kirby and anyone at OSU tier.
I would say he is elite and he has to fight against long-term connections and 20 years of being ****.

We had bad relationships with certain high schools over a certain period of time and we still have that fat **** Jay Wimbrow who continues to push every SFL WR talent to OSU.

What’s ridiculous is how condescending you have to speak to make your self feel better, pal.

I posted earlier and outlined several teams that didn’t have this WR1. A good example, Syracuse. Brand new QB. Jackson Meeks transfered in after 3 years at Georgia. He had a combined a combined 10 catches and 132 yards in 3 seasons. Went for 78 and 1000. Trebor Pena. 4 years. A combined 25 catches and 272 yards. He went for 900. Gadsen had 1 really good year. And injured year and bounced back. The point being, they didn’t enter the year with “WR1”. Their two leading receivers entered the year with no experience to the QB and minimal at best production.

All I have done was made the comparison. It’s not far off. I’m advocating and finding the silver lining in playing younger guys because we didn’t get anything proven. Which Clemson, Syracuse, and countless other teams have gotten production out of WRs without WR1.

Again you’re comparing the freshman receiving yards and ignoring Daniels and now Marion. So it was a simple ask originally.

You have your opinion. Good for you. When people just ask a question, they are not always trying to prove you wrong or make you look wrong. That was my original question. It was a simple ask. Your so **** bent on making yourself seem right, you need to try and talk down to someone. I mean seriously “sport”. What are you 12?

No, what is ridiculous is the bull**** that you vomit out of your mouth, all because you can't handle being told that you're wrong.

You want to aspire to be like Syracuse, then you deserved to be mocked.

Oh, and "Jackson Meeks" (as if that is a real person) is identical to spending $4M on Carson Beck. Get the **** out of here with that moronic comparison.

Imagine some idiot "Miami fan" holding out SYRACUSE as an example of what we should be doing.

SYRACUSE.

I can just end my response right there.

****...SYRACUSE...

The absolute morons who argue complete nonsense on this board...

Least shocking response I could have gotten. Still cant comprehend the point. Where tf did I say I want to be like syracuse

Those guys you named are all at schools that can recruit for themselves. Not trying to take credit away from the coaches but it is what it is.

Weren't we ALL calling Mario an elite recruiter when he was at Oregon??? So he comes to Miami and lost his elite traits? Y'all have to understand, with MOST coaches, we would be in a similar spot recruiting wise if not worse. We've been str8 dookie for most of these kids lives, no tier of elite recruiting is just gonna come down here and dominate recruiting year after year. It's going to take way more time and proof that we can constantly be a competent team to wash that stinch away.

I realize you still can't comprehend the point. Because the point was never "what could our offensive production be if there are no injuries and everyone has their best year ever". That isn't the discussion.

You're just a very unintelligent and uninformed poster. Embrace it. You think "recruiting" is what gets reported on 247 and on3. You have no idea the number of players we had on campus to CONVINCE them to enter the Portal, who then did not enter the Portal. THAT is the failure. Not whether we got KEELAN MARION, and your delusional nonsense about him being the best of what was available, and how we should be happy about that and not talk about the guys WHO ARE BETTER who we targeted. This is how I know that you're clueless on what was really happening.

You have the brainpower of Dennis Smith, convincing Mario that we "have enough" and that we don't need to spend anymore money. You are the guy who hypes up mid-level recruits by projecting them to play better at Miami than they did elsewhere.

It's sadly funny to watch posters complain about how we wasted an ALL-TIME single-season record-setting performance by both a QB and a WR by giving them one of our weakest defenses in the modern era. But then they turn around and act like we can surround another $4M quarterback with a bunch of raw WRs and a couple of adequate transfers. Brilliant.

I'm not a "good enough" Miami fan. I don't want players who are "good enough". Who are comparable "to what Syracuse did". I want the best-in-class at every position. I'll be patient with freshman WRs when we have 105 on the roster, but we need a high-level WR1 to pair with Carson Beck to restore his confidence in his elbow and that WRs won't drop his passes. Not some reliance on "trust us, Carson, these are 5-star freshmen WRs, they are going to be great someday, even after you leave".

But thank you for showing us how little you understand recruiting and football. I'm not saying you're not a fan. Even 5-year-old children can go to football games and have a good time eating hot dogs.

SYRACUSE! We should try to be like SYRACUSE...

You are so **** bent on making yourself seem smart and in the know, it’s actually impressive. The need to call someone stupid 15 different ways is very indicative of how insecure you are about yourself. Trying to tell me how little I know about football when you have no idea who I am or my life experience, again, is telling of your insecurities.

And Where TF did I say I want to be like Syracuse.

You must be miserable at home to be crashing out like this all the time

It’s weird. At some points he’s kind of arguing your point. I don’t think he understands exactly what you were saying.

Serious question, how sophisticated is the analytics capabilities in the athletic department at UM? Advanced analytics are a powerful weapon for competitive advantage at top programs in the age of NIL, but they must be advanced, which can be expensive. Quality analytics lead to less bloviating, less emotion, and less room for really stupid moves.

Tbh you're both kinda right. We should spend money on proven talent, especially when we have a 1 year rental at QB. But it's also unrealistic to expect to have proven talent at every position and at some point you have to trust your recruiting/development worked at some positions.

Issue with the former is that is super expensive. Issue with the latter is sometimes you miss and end up with a DB crew like last year.

Based on all that, 15-1 floor, 16-0 ceiling.

I really wasn’t advocating for any type of strategy. I’m as annoyed as anyone we weren’t able to get a “WR1” or a truly proven guy. It’s a disappointment. I don’t want to go into the year with Beck and so many question marks at the position. But at this stage, you have what you have.

I just tried to highlight earlier there were a lot of examples of top offenses in the country and playoff teams that didn’t have that “WR1” entering the year. Us, by many accounts, because people didn’t think X was a “WR1” and we tried to get one in Sam brown. Syracuse, Clemson, Arkansas. All had top offenses without a proven WR1 by production entering the year. The lone guys those teams had isn’t far off from CJ Daniels production wise. As well, SMU, ASU, Penn State, Georgia were other examples of playoff teams that didn’t really have a “WR1” entering the year.

I tried to highlight that it shouldn’t make or break the season. It didn’t for a lot of teams. Guys obviously need to make a jump and perform. Everyone in the room. As well Lofton and the TEs.

Not sure how that turned me into Dennis Smith

Since being here at Miami, Mario kinda added his own pieces to “20 years of being ****”

That doesn't overrate analytics or make analytics worthless or overrated.

It just demonstrates that we have poor leadership and stupid people running the ship.

If I buy elite ingredients, but have a cook that doesn't understand how to work a ******* pan, who's at fault? The ingredients or the guy cooking the dish?

If people don't understand analytics, it's not because the data is too complex or too hard to understand, it's because they don't want to get it. They're lazy and unwilling to learn.

Analytics is an aid to decision-making.
That's literally what I said.

Thanks for reading my posts in the thread 👍

You said "analytics is overblown" and then proceeded to use reasons that have nothing to do with analytics.

1+2=3, if you can't do that, it's not the maths problem, its you.
