Norvell had an offseason like this after his best season, which also ended in disappointment. He thought going undefeated would cause players to fall over themselves rushing to join his program. In the end, they didn’t have the funds or the traction with players, despite a historic season.

Mario had the #1 draft pick and couldn’t make the 13 team playoff. Is this hurting him?

We had a very strong winter off season. Unfortunately there just hasn't been a lot of real talent to hit the portal in the spring window. Pena was probably the best WR and he was just a 1 year wonder for an Air Raid offense that is extremely easy to produce in. There just haven't been any good options in the portal.

Everyone was hoping for Jeremiah lol, you know **** well OSU ain’t letting him leave.

There is no hole on this team that’s like cb last year. That room lacked talent and depth.

Wr has talent get them to show it. Lofton is supposed to be this big time versatile player well show it.

Scott was a 5 star so let see what he can do. Blay was a top 5 DT in the portal so prove it. We don’t have an all American as the 4th DT ok so what. Jones and simpson step tf up. I

LB has enough to at least be respectable. You can’t name any of Minnesota LBs and they had a top defense.

Plenty of talent at cb. Safety lacks depth but there are other guys who can play safety if need be.

The constant crying y’all guys do like the team is in such bad shape and is missing so much is ridiculous. We know this isn’t a championship team. The goal is to build consistency and to try and win this shîtty conf at least 1 time

Usually when you have to go to multiple positions saying we need growth and guys to show up…You have massive holes on your roster lmao

Brilliant question. I wish I knew more about Mario’s system or process with evaluating players and determining a player’s value but I’m not biggest believer in his strategy. In my opinion, we have allowed too many impact players go to other programs because of our refusal to play the game with certain players. At the same time, I know with many kids, the staff has had to up the bag from their original proposal to retain key players. At the end, the market determines a player’s worth, not simply one school or staff.

The narrative that we don’t over pay isn’t true, we are just selective with who we highly invest in. The staff also banked on last season’s success to get kids discounted and that backfired. Very frustrating.

Mario hits hard when he spends money on blue chip kids but misses too much with low tier talent. I think he needs to surround himself with better talent evaluators and recruiters. He certainly is no Butch.

No disrespect to the people here that were hinting at it being possible

But it was not possible. Much like signing day people can choose to believe we had a chance if it helps…but if you think Miami was gonna bully OSU for their best player you’re on crack

Weren't we ALL calling Mario an elite recruiter when he was at Oregon??? So he comes to Miami and lost his elite traits? Y'all have to understand, with MOST coaches, we would be in a similar spot recruiting wise if not worse. We've been str8 dookie for most of these kids lives, no tier of elite recruiting is just gonna come down here and dominate recruiting year after year. It's going to take way more time and proof that we can constantly be a competent team to wash that stinch away.

They act as if we've been spending cheese on football the way OSU,OREGON,UGA,BAMA has...common sense would tell you that we have alot of catching up to do after football being treated as an afterthought here for past 20+ years..IMO Mario has done a great job elevating the talent level here considering that context. If he ever gets it right on the field we'll be a force to reckon with in recruitng

Reinforcing a prior point, I know with certainty that Horton was targeted by Bama based on an analytics service on which they spend a lot of money.
The stakes are too high to not have high-end data science woven into talent acquisition. A simple application would be to put a value range on every player based on modeling. Staff can chose to pay more or less, but it’s a framework. Less emotion, less stupidity.
