No Pena, No Haulcy, No LB, No DTs, No #1 WR…

Respectfully, retention is a completely different topic and has nothing to do with my post.

My post was in response to a poster implying the L’s we have taken didn’t matter because they weren’t “elite”. My point is it doesn’t matter if HE thinks they are elite or not.

The staff wanted them, they didn’t get them. It’s an L. That’s all that matters.

The post you responded to stated

"Not many elite guys coming out from what I have seen."

"Don't recall any must get elite WRs, DTs, LBs... who has been out there that is a sure-fire difference maker?"

"Miami added some nice pieces in the portal thus far."

To which you responded...

"...The STAFF wanted them, and they failed to get them here."

Who are these players the staff wanted that they took an L for?

And what teams are you comparing it to? Outside of Ohio State and Oregon, every single team in the country had gaps this year, even UGA at WR and OL

So really, are you just complaining to complain? Or did you expect us to be top 2 roster in college football?

Talent acquisition isn’t the problem, we were the most talented team in the ACC in year 3. The problem was poor hiring
Yes

Of all the names that we have seen associated with Miami this spring portal, you think Marion, Bonner, and the trash *** kicker are the ONLY ones we wanted? You think we are batting 100% from the field this spring?

You are not a serious person.

Forget the fact that OSU, UGA have CONSISTENTLY produced homegrown HIGH LEVEL players at several positions (maybe UGA with WR not so much but still more than us) under their current staff so maybe that’s why they get benefit of the doubt. When we start churning out day 1-2 picks at those spots HERE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI, maybe we’ll stop doubting our ability to do well there despite what we have on paper.

Mario ceiling as a coach is FIU. He isn't good enough for big time football. Oregon got way better when he left. His supposed best trait is talent acquisition, which isn't that great. We will take 2 steps back next year and win 7 or 8 games.....in year 4. I'd rather work smart than hard
Were you introduced to the Purgatory forum during your CIS orientation tour?

The Spring portal window isn't closed yet and, unless you have inside knowledge about the ones we wanted, that's just a ton of speculation on your part.

According to our insiders, the staff was supposedly high on both Marion and Bonner. Those are the guys they wanted and you're performing the same value judgement you criticized the other poster for.So accordingly, we got the ones we wanted, and 'it doesn’t matter if [you] think they are elite or not.'

It can go both ways.

I guess we don't have a long history at producing TEs, and y'all haven't been acting like Lofton wont adequately fill that role, right? Give me a break.

Brother, I am talking about the spots that we are lacking right now which is DT, LB, S, and WR. Ironically the same spots where we haven’t produced jack **** outside of Kinchens since these guys have been here and ironically his play fell in Y3 from Y2. I wonder what that is?

Find me anything I’ve said negatively about Lofton too, btw.

So we aren’t batting 100%, thanks. Glad they landed 3 of the guys they wanted though, I’m sure they will kill it here just like they’ve done at their previous spots!

Just to put this in perspective, Ohio State just lost their top two DTs and top two EDGEs to the draft. We have 2 proven Edges returning, and 1 proven DT returning who was at worst top 3-5 DT in portal, another 5 star DT that all practice indications are he's stepping up, two more 5 star EDGEs we expect to be heavily in rotation, and another very high 4 star in Lightfoot that also practice reports have indicated he's stepping up. If Moten was on Ohio State everyone would absolutely be expecting him to step up, but here we can't possibly go into next season with all that and think we could have a good DLine Unit.

I personally want another DT, but when people act like our unit is trash its just embarrassing man. At some point you have to let guys sink or swim, and with them we win or lose. We could absolutely really use a Nt-type as a DT3-4 in the rotation. But when people act like without another DT add our unit is going to suck I just seriously question their actual expectations.

Is our current DLine good enough to get a team to CFP if it was on UGA/Ohio St? I think so. I seriously just think people's expectations are insane. It's like people think we can just snap our fingers and have a DLine of Corleone from Cinci Watson from Syracuse, Blay, and Scott and anything less is trash....

Lb I personally don't value too highly and we landed a guy staff likes, so up to them to get the most out of him. We have some young talent that hopefully steps up. Again I've been saying IF alderman/Chase are the guys being relied on that is bad. But if Wiley/Popo/Pruitt are the guys that win the job? I'm good with it, They gotta step up.

At DB I don't at all get the hysteria after adding 4 high quality DBs in the portal to add to OJ and Damari. I do question why we just didn't have Lucas at safety the entire time as that obviously just makes the most sense. But then people act like if we don't get Haulcy who I expect to be very expensive, that it means what our entire DB haul was a fail? I just don't get it.

So like WR is the main complaint as far as swinging and missing. And I share that and think it was a fail - but more so a fail of the winter portal. But does not getting a top WR1 type mean I think Trader shouldn't be counted on to be a starting caliber guy?... You know which is what the original comment i responded to was about....

Then why not address these issues in first portal? Why not address these issues in HS recruiting? Anyone with a clue knows spring portal is limited and full of scrubs. This is absolutely on Mario.

Btw, this staff absolutely had a “plan” for this portal and it backfired on their faces.
What issues do you ACTUALLY see?

You guys want to pick this thing apart because we haven't found a #1 WR.

Our #1 last year was Restrepo and he was a UDFA.

Calm down
