Not really. It's natural to pursue guys you are familiar with. Most coaches would have done the same thing.

Do I have concerns? Yes richt should have known one way or the other if McClendon and Lilly were leaving for Miami a week after he was hired. Regardless not going to make a big deal out of it, plenty of coaches want to coach at the university of miami

This is a hard job whether people think so or not, hardest job in the country imo. I used to think it was the easiest but u recruiting against the best down here and the stadium is buns sauce. Alot of pressure to win
 
In the grand scheme of things we should promote Larry Scott to the co offensive coordinator and give him a raise
 
u can give out 2 co/oc positions. richt will call plays but he would of had lilly coach te's and be passing game coordinator, and brown as rb's/co oc with running game coordinator id assume.

that said i don't think is struggling he offered his coaches he liked but some people's wife's dont want to move to miami . frankly scott is just as good a te coach so lets keep him

i think its early to say is struggling lets see who he gets to coach all the positions and has a complete staff to judge. dc to me is biggest hire he will make oline , dline are probably next biggest decisions wr, te, rb, lb coach miami has solid ones in hurlie brown, kevin beard and larry scott, and with thomas brown coming for rb thats set.

There is only one thing that concerns me. Richt likely wants to surround himself with clean, faith and family-oriented guys. Those types are not always a natural fit in Miami.

Personally, I want guys like Ed Orgeron. All he cared about was recruiting, watching film, living on Brickell Key, chasing women and generally going harder than a Russian.

no one trashing butch. he is a solid coach but he would of done what he did in past hired some guys u never heard of just because pagano, schiano and them became big names at miami doesn't mean were when butch hired them.

the problem with butch is he was 64 , he left miami in a snit over money, which hurt alot of feelings, he had ncaa mess at carolina , with his dl coach hire paying players for an agent plus academic mess which even though he was clearned its still on his watch, and the fact larry fedora has had as good a run there as butch did

those were issues. not saying butch not a good coach he was. but people want him for nostalgia, they are same ones wanted him fired in 1998 also. butch wasn't getting job period. unless no one else wanted it.

not that butch wouldn't of been a good hire he would of been , richt to me was a better choice at this time in there lives. and im sure will find a solid coaching staff, give him time to actually announce one before u rip his staff.

Very true. Any insight/ opinion on Thomas Brown? Maybe how he will fit in recruiting SoFla or his current reputation amongst some of the connected people at Miami? Will he be starting from scratch as far as building relationships in the SoFla community?

I mean the man just hired two coaches and advised the rest wouldn't be announced till after the bowl. Plus the Butch argument is pointless because hypotheticals mean nothing. People could say "what it" all day. IJS

Big butch supporter but i want MR to win and if I see red flags imma call it even if butch was coach i posted that long ago. If we got butch n he was fkin up i be the first to bash dude, im about them wins dog nothing else matters. Win and recruit the savages n keep them home, or recruit them then win because thats how it goes. Not win then recruit its recruit then win, I hope he kills it man but he needs savages like dmoney stated not that church ****.

You make a good point. I hope you're right, man. I have a wait and see attitude, but I'm hoping for the best. I understand he just got the job. But I think most of us are at the end of our rope when it comes to patience after the debacle that we've been subjected to for years.
 
Although I was one of them panicking a little early, I actually have no problem if Richt wanted to bring back the entire offensive staff. What scares me is the timing of all this, and that his boys told him "**** nah!"

Unfortunately, much of Richt's staff at UGA were hicks from the sticks. They probably came down here and felt overwhelmed. Lilly is a redneck, and McClendon is a hayseed who grew up in Georgia.

This!!! He should be able to get some competent coaches to come down. He needed to first offer "his" guys!!
 
It's really the defense that needs overhauling. The offense just needs tweaking. D.C. is still the critical hire. Not too worried about the offensive staff right now.
