Briles is a journeyman OC? At 35?
Get your **** together QP.
Three jobs in three years is the very definition of journeyman.

I’m still ok with the head coach being a CEO. But a CEO that puts that best staff in place to make the company successful, not a CEO that gives jobs to his friends and kids who aren’t qualified. And doesn’t listen to ideas to improve the company. We are at the point where our next coach must be an offensive innovator.
We hired clappy as a caretaker, radio as some sort of aspirational recruiter, gluten as some sort of ceo friend of dorito two-fer. Then CMR as ceo or something stable whatever blah blah. No alleged ceo worth his salt is going to even take the job in 2 years when richt retires to build homes in other countries. What’s the saying for fool me five times? We will need someone who can come in and make things exciting quickly, without the time to rebuild line talent. That means spread air assault. Generate belief through points on board. No ice cream socials.
What star up n coming ceo coach is signing up for a rebuild on top of a rebuild on top of a rebuild on top of a rebuild?
Who would you hire?
Dino Babers.
WowThree jobs in three years is the very definition of journeyman.
As much overreaction and over swinging the pendulum in the other direction usually leads to another ****** situation, I think this is where we need to be as well.
It’s an offensive game now and with our recruiting grounds it’s just the next logical move.
Briles is an intriguing name. Don’t get more “young, innovative” than that.
I would like to kick the tires of Matt Campbell from Iowa State. Offensive background, had some success in big games for mediocre programs, always seems to have his teams ready etc
Jason Candle from Toledo and Neal Brown from Troy are also interesting candidates that are already HCs
I already posted...Dino Babers.
If you like Kendal Briles (I don't know why, but ok)...then Dino should your top choice.
Has shown he can win his conference (@ Bowling Green, twice @ EIU).
Has shown he can beat Clemson.
Has shown he can beat Florida State.
Total Offense - 14th, 23rd, 42nd @ Cuse ... 4th, 43rd @ BGSU
Runs the football on average 40 times per game as a D1 coach.
I don't care if he's old.
He would be a great choice.
He would need a good defensive coordinator choice, but otherwise, I like him.
re: Matt Campbell
I like him a lot, but the total resume is lacking for my liking. Also, I am not sure our fanbase gives Campbell time. If you take on Campbell, you're in for a total culture rebuild and that will take time I am not sure he will be afforded.
Disagree.
The most important traits for a HC have nothing to do with being an offensive or defensive genius, you can hire people for that. What you can't hire is a guy to motivate your team for you. A guy to convince HS kids they should play for you, and their parents that it's smart to let their kids play for you. You can't hire somebody to schmooze with donors and HS coaches.
I have no problem with an offensive mastermind as HC, but I'd just as soon see a guy who's overseeing masterminds and concentrating on making the whole show run.
On paper, Richt is what I want in a HC. His failure isn't that he's not an offensive genius, it's that he doesn't have the sense to hire one and concentrate on being in charge.
Oh no, a young stud HC has a short resume. Time for him to build it at UM then.
This is the shortsighted thinking that has us in this ****hole. For the record I like Babers also, but I'm not passing on a guy like Campbell for him.

He's too young, and his offense is too savage for him to be a journeyman.Three jobs in three years is the very definition of journeyman.

Allegedly was who Jimmy recommended to the search committee.Mike Gundy if we could afford him.
I was always a huge proponent of staying pro-style on offense but over the last 5 years I have completely changed my tune. Give me the spread all day long. Give some coach access to South Florida Receivers and backs and let him create mismatches all over the field.
Everyone is quick to bring up Briles name, but what about his boss Major Applewhite? As long as he leave No-D in Houston of course.
At this point I would accept Leach.
Lane Kiffin.
