Loving Yearby and badly wanting us to land Cook or Sony are not mutually exclusive sentiments.
That's the simple truth that the ****-stirring dopes on this board don't seem to understand no matter how many times it's fed to them. We ALL love Yearby, but that doesn't mean it won't be a major fail to miss on both Cook and Michel. As we proved this year, relying on an incredible but tiny RB as your only real RB is foolish.
Also may I add that these same posters are now also trying to push this fairy tale that Yearby is Duke 2.0 but the reality is Yearby isn't anywhere as explosive. You finally get it through their heads that there is a legit concern about yearby's size, so they do these mental gymnastics in their heads and now Yearby is just like Duke. Yearby is a great prospect, elite vision, cutting ability and balance but he is small, and when I say small I mean he is small and doesn't have the frame to end up being Gore, ray Rice or MJD. All small RBs but were built like bowling balls. Yearby will do damage here, he is very good but as a prospect just isn't on Sony's or Cook's level.
Now que the posters that will tell me I'm a hater and if Yearby was committed elsewhere I would think the opposite, when the reality is that when Yearby was committed at FSU most laughed at FSU for getting a kid that wasn't even that good. Remember when everyone called BS when D had Yearby ahead of Sony last year on his preseason list? Poster after poster said Yearby was pedestrian.
"Fairy Tale". LOL, the guy would have probably broken the Dade County rushing record this year had he not gotten hurt. Think about all the great backs that have come out of Dade County, and he would have BROKEN THE **** RECORD DUDE. The comparisons to Duke are actually VERY accurate. Duke is not the fastest back in the country either. Both are smaller but have elite cuts and vision that make them highly productive. Duke is not as much of a homerun threat as other guys, but he's a great talent, and so is Yearby. Yes, both are on the small side, but what can we do about that? And who the F*CK said anything about Gore? Duke isnt going to have as solid a build as Gore either. Its not like we didnt recruit the **** out of Cook. We also have Edwards whose a big back, and hopefully between Duke, Yearby and Gus, we will have some depth there to take a lot of the pressure off Duke. Any way you cut it, we will be in a MUCH better position at RB next year. Yearby is a great back and we are lucky to have him. Sure it would be great to have Cook or Sony to, but **** man, people act like we are coming off back to back MNCs here. This program has been irrelevant for a decade, two straight years of no bowls, on probation and coming off a nasty multi year NCAA scandal, and we are sitting on one of the top classes in the nation, with an elite RB that most programs would kill for. But instead of THAT being the narrative, it always has to be the "we lost out on this guy, or that guy, we FAILED on this kid, the staff BLEW it with that kid".
Its not like the staff hasnt recruited the **** out of these guys. What else can they do? Very few elite RBs want to go to the same school as other top RBs in the same class. In fact, the ONLY year I can remember that happening, was when we took Charlie Jones and Bobby Washington, and Washington never ended up enrolling here after his grades got flagged.
We got Yearby and are **** lucky to have him.. Had Coley stayed at FSU, its very likely Yearby would have gone to FSU, and there is absolutely NO gurarantee we would have grabbed Cook. He may have still gone to UF, or somewhere else.
And to top it all off, people have completely FORGOTTEN all about Brandon Powell. Powell is rated as one of the top all purpose backs in the country. Yes he's small, but he's incredibly quick and electric. Kid is a major talent and is going to ball out somewhere for us. Programs like Tennessee have been hot after him, and we act like he's an afterthought.
Problem is that we have some of the most spoiled, unrealistic fans in America. UM is a small private school, coming off a decade of mediocrity. We're lucky we arent looking at classes the likes of Duke or GT. We are going to have two of the best backs to come out of South Florida EVER on the same team, and guys are still crying.
