New Offensive Coordinator

ames Coley S&P ranking at miami:
2013 - 5
2014 - 34
2015 - 49

Dan Enos S&P ranking at Arkansas:
2015 - 4
2016 - 39
2017 - 43

How this post doesn't get more likes, is crazy to me. This is a great comparison as playcallers. Probably better as pure QB coaches.

James Coley at least has the caveat of being a pretty good recruiter. Dan Enos has none of that.

Dan Enos's offense didn't score 31 points which they should have done easily. You know what Enos's offense did do they played with no urgency down 16 pts in the 4th QTR.

When Miami is playing slow football down 16 in the 4th quarter vs FIU in that stadium there's an identity problem and an ego problem. It's a guy convinced he's the smartest guy in the room losing perspective of the situation in the name of doing it his way. It's Donofrio on offense.

meanwhile, Harrell

"An offense that improved leaps and bounds over the final six weeks of this season should only be better a year from now. In its final five victories, USC’s offense averaged 523.6 yards per game, which, over a full season, would’ve ranked seventh in the nation.

“When they come together, the offense down the stretch started to play at a really high level,” offensive coordinator Graham Harrell said. “All the guys that came knew we had a special offense. A lot of it has to do with confidence. It helped to feel, as we started going down the stretch, that man, we can be unstoppable. They started to feel that.”

Pending the decision on Helton, Harrell may not have the chance to continue building on a relatively successful debut season in charge of USC’s offense. If a new coach is put in place, especially one with an offensive background, the Trojans may have to scrap the Air Raid and start anew with a different system."

There are a lot of qualified coaches out there that UM could realistically get. I don't know why people say that they wouldn't come to UM, being an OC at UM is a great opportunity for a coach to show is ability to turn a terrible offense into a very good one, not only that but you get pretty good football players without trying to hard.

If you think any legit OC is going to come to work under Manny Diaz you are a fool.

He is a nobody coach that should be at a G5 school. No connections, no resume, no respect among coaches. We hired a guy bc of his stupid jewelry idea, not bc he was an actually qualified coach.

The problem is Diaz. If you change coordinators it wont matter, just like Willie Taggart did.

Not true, if Manny hires an OC that uses speed and space, Miami could avg 40+pts a game which would have UM with only 1 loss or undefeated this year. If our defense is playing with 2 score lead it makes the other time 1 dimensional an against our pass rush I will take that bet any day.

Anyone know what Enos buyout is? If it’s true he is making over a million then it’s likely he has a somewhat expensive buyout.

If we gave someone a pay raise they will come. Manny has a bad rap, but at the end of the day this is still a historic program in a good city. Any G5 coordinator will come here. And a handful of P5 that are underpaid if we gave them what we gave Enos.

But would he leave Texas Tech to come here?

He signed a 3yr contract for $600K per year with a 20% balance buyout on his end. So with 2yrs left he would owe TT $120K. Taking that into consideration UM would have to come north of $800-$900K to land him plus pay his buyout.

In addition I can almost guarantee ENOS has 80% or higher contract buyout by the University, so with Enos making a rumored $1.5/yr that would be a guesstimated $2.4MM due to him if UM fires him. Ouch.

Bedenbaugh!
All day everyday.
1. Best OL coach in college football. Solves one problem.

2. Brings the playbook we need to be running. Solves that problem

3. There is an angle to get him. He want's to call plays. He can do it here. Solves that problem.

Negatives
Obviously a risk since he doesn't call plays now.

But 1 and 2 are worth that risk.

That's where the incompetence of the AD comes in. A good AD should be able to hit up boosters and get some cash. Problem is that nobody trusts them with the money.

Sean Gleeson from Ok State would be more likely option considering he is Jersey Guy. Funny thing is he swears by being an UPTempo GUY.

Learning Coach Speak as well, while becoming more media savy. The other good thing is now with Pickens death, the Okie St money pot is running dry so there won't be a big bidding war. Finding a WR coach & OL coach would be a difficult because Gleeson doesn't have a lot of contacts in coaching.
