MEGA New Miami Adidas Ultraboost🔥 - The Shoe and Nike/Adidas Thread.

So Adidas is what the younger generation likes? Surprising asf to me and if its true we will be with Adidas. Just make better quality **** and idc tbh. Whatever helps us get the best players.
If Yeezy didnt go crazy, they would of run away with it for this decade atleast.. I remember stepping out and seeing them joints EVERYWHEREEEEEE.. Im still shocked at what one mad man did for a company like that and then fumble.. Incredible run..

I don't care about being #1 or #2 or #3 if it wasn't promised to us. I care more about being told we will be the "flagship program" and then we get treated like dirt.

And I care about cash-money. I don't care if we are #10 on the adidas call-sheet, as long as they pay us a 15% royalty. Same for Nike.

We can disagree on the "way better" portion, but it is what it is.

And I DEFINITELY disagree on your last sentence (for two reasons). First, we won't be such a small private school for long (per our text chain), and I don't really think we are a small fan base any longer. You've seen what I've texted to you, EVERY SINGLE DAY I get UM comments on my shoes and shirts up here in ATL. Small alum base, I'll grant you that. Small fan base? Sure doesn't seem like it.

Much love, and GOOOOO Canes!

It’s funny they think we’re going to be Adidas’ #1, #2, #3. Lol. From Adidas themselves, I know what’s their pecking order which is y UW is now up in arms. Lol. Hilarious to me.

Someone said “uh oh- you gone and done it” which was a simple question on page 2-3 of this thread—
Can’t recall who- but they knew what this would devolve into— and lo and behold-
We need games to begin stat b/c people are scrapping over uniforms & apparel… maybe we could find someone to play an extra game in August so we could put this thread to rest?

Or it’s just a point of contention among ALL fan bases.

If u think this same back & forth is not going on PSU, UTenn, or USCe message boards, then I have a nice golden bridge to sell u overseeing the Wilmington Arms Luxury Apartments in beautiful Compton, CA.

Facilities, NIL, playing time, brand alliance, coaching, etc all play a role in recruiting, so yes it’s an off season talking point, just like every other non season related thread.

Yep, wasnt hard to see what was comming. I dont really care who gets the contract as long as the school it taken care of financially and functionally but I gotta say.... The odd, obsessive and protective love affair some have with Nike has kinda turned me into team 3 Stripes

Nike made a bunch of marketing mistakes. Getting rid of vendors for DTC was a bad strategy. If any of you are runners then you know how important it is for a knowledgeable salesperson in proper running shoe selection. What a stupid idea to get rid of the folks pushing Nike in retail stores. Nike spent 18 billion dollars on stock buybacks to reward it's management and investors. It only spent 11 billion on R&D which is why Nike has fallen a bit behind. Nike just decreased it's guidance forecast down 1.7% more. Not sure why CIS is so interested in supporting a decreasing global brand. Maybe with Nike struggles they would be willing to offer Miami a much better deal than Adidas. It would be big for Nike to have the support of Miami's fanbase to stop the bleeding. I hope the Admin is using Nike's weakness in any potential negotiations.

Oh and despite what many of you may think I do like Nike as they saved Converse.

1. The DTC strategy is what inflated Nike’s stock, as this strategy was implemented during Covid when the world was shut down.

2. The marketing strategy that failed under Donahoe was the over reliance on the resale market for its retros + choking off its wholesale partners which allowed smaller companies like On, Brooks, & Hoka to gain shelf space that was originally occupied by Nike. This in turn led these newer brands a share in the retail & running space

3. When the world re-opened, DTC became dated. Donahoe tried to overcorrect by, not restoring relationships, but by over flooding the market w more retros & color ways. This strategy created buyer exhaustion which matriculated to re-sellers. Shoes that were once in high demand, now became easy access, dropping value & perception.

4. Donahoe was replaced by Elliot, who admitted b/c of bridges burned not just w/ wholesalers, but also countries like China & Japan, it would take at least 3 yrs to correct inventory, relationships, & markets.

5. One of the bridges has already been repaired, which is wholesale relationships. Partners like Footlocker, JD Sports, & ****’s have become the preferred vendors of Nike once again. The issue is that Nike is still dealing w inventory issues which is y u can find a lot of their products at a discount at their outlets, DSW, etc.

6. Nike has made a concerted effort to regain the Asian demographic, which is y they’ve intentionally partnered w famous artists from South Korea, designers from Japan, & athletes in China. They know they will not get back what they lost, but even regaining 5-7% will make a huge difference.

7. Under Elliot, he specifically said Nike lost its way in sports. They’ve been very intentional in re-aligning themselves w the elite, rededicating themselves to youth sporting events, & re-uniting “the family” as they prominently show case all the greats both past & present who r Nike Athletes.

8. Nike’s market share & stock dropped b/c of its inflation during COVID. Nike is a split stock company, which is y it’s much easier to invest in Nike at a reasonable price point than Adidas which is both on The Exchange & The Euro market. The price is not what u look at, it’s the market cap, & Nike far & away controls the market cap in this sector. Like, it’s not close.

9. U made the point that Adidas is the future, & I feel like it’s ground hog’s day on CIS. Ya’ll said this same bull **** in 2015 during the Yeezy run. Through history, Adidas will go on a 3-4 yr run, until they get put back in their place. Adidas is still leaning & relying upon Yeezy’s old designs. They r now trying to milk Pharrell, when Pharrell was an afterthought when they had Yeezy. I literally just posted a link about which brand is most popular for Gen Z & Gen Alpha & NIKE was still the clear cut winner.

10. Let me be very clear…Idgaf if Adidas pay PSU $30m/yr or UTenn $20m/yr, Adidas will never, ever, ever have a true footing in American Football. They’re paying $1-1.3b to futbol teams, b/c this is a futbol company. They’re will always be one-two steps behind. It doesn’t matter how many ex Nike employees they hire, they do not have the tech nor bandwidth to keep up w Nike when it comes to American sports needs or aesthetics.

11. Nike’s running department has actually been leading its stabilization. They beat the market’s prediction & that was due to running. They’re track athletes literally just dominated the NCAA outdoor, indoor, & The Diamond League.

12. This is a play on, on #10; the reason y Adidas’ experience a much higher injury ratio per capita than Nike is b/c at Nike schools, there’s a whole body scan which makes sure its athletes are assigned shoes based upon position, weight, height, foot dimensions. Before players r assigned cleats, they must go through this. It’s not fool proof, but comparatively it’s been documented Nike having less catastrophic injuries per capita than Adidas.

Again, I can go on & on & on & on. The one thing I hate about the internet is the propensity of spreading misinformation & misinformation is more enticing than actual facts or context. I literally had to correct a PSU fan who said “Nike didn’t care about us b/c we asked for the gold swoosh in the playoffs & they said no.” My rebuttal was simple; “does Nike care about Oregon? If ur answer is yes, then why didn’t Oregon receive the gold swoosh?”

U see, just like Blake James, PSU’s AD had to justify why he broke a traditional, long standing relationship w Nike for Adidas. He said it’s b/c they wanted a gold swoosh like OSU got, & they wanted Saquon cleats; what he failed to mention is that the gold swoosh is ONLY for teams that played in the CFP12 Nat’l Championship game, & PSU already received special, priority cleats just for them.

Instead of just saying we took the $$, he wanted to create a narrative & that narrative was not only misleading it was disingenuous. Ur post is not disingenuous, it’s misinformed. The buy back strategy of ‘22 was, again, trying to overcorrect a problem created, keeping share holders happy vs. addressing the flaw.

Nike’s stock is going to trade between $40-45 right now for the next yr; once their inventory is corrected, & they unleash all the collaborators world wide, their stock will trade back to $55-65/share like normal in 2027. Once The Olympics happen in 2028, their stock will be around $60-68/share.

I’ve been through this way, too, often. Nike is the Drake of apparel….always claim he’s dead, then boom….3 #1 Albums simultaneously.
On and Hoka have been absolutely steamrolling Nike running. You can just stop that nonsense right there. I'm a runner so I know exactly how Nike running has taken a massive decline in market share. The problem Nike has in the running space is they are just getting beat by better shoes and better technology. The name brand from the 80's and 90's isn't going to solve that. The only way out of this is to get back to making great running shoes

Ur hubris is hilarious to me. Do u think u’re the only runner? Lmao Do u know how many 26 mi Marathons both my father & myself have been apart of? Do u have many trails I run full speed upon? Oh, U don’t? Sometimes I just let ppl yap, b/c w/e I say is never from emotions…I actually have tangible proof such as:

I clearly said Nike dominated The NCAA indoor & outdoor & The Diamond League & their racing division is stabilizing them. Maybe if u read, first, vs. pontificating, u would’ve learned something.

One more thing….U see, Nike is the founder & creator of the now famed super shoe. It was Nike’s Alphafly that became the first shoe to break under 2 hrs for the marathon. The problem? It was deemed illegal, b/c it was said to give a runner, too, much of a competitive advantage.

Once that moment became a documentary of the super shoe that made Marathon history, wouldn’t u know Adidas took the technology from the Alphafly & tweaked it to create their own version which was deemed legal?

The Alphafly’s (2/29/2020) predecessor Vaporfly (7/20/2017) r the Godfathers to:
-Adizero Adios Pro (6/30/2020)
-Saucony Endorphin Elite (2/21/2023)
-Asics Meta Speed Sky Paris (3/4/2024)
-Puma Divate Nitro 3 (7/1/2024)
-Hoka Cielo X 1 2.0 (2/17/2025)
-New Balance Fuelcell SC Elite v.5 (8/7/2025)

Nike is ALWAYS the standard; others r playing catch up.

Nike is being dominated in the running shoe category. Just stop it. This is now sad. You sound like Cane fans during the Manny years. There's been a big boom in the running shoe category and Nike has missed it. The fact it's doing better than the other divisions of Nike doesn't change that fact. Nike is absolutely bleeding market share in the running category. That's just cold reality. Hoka started the rocker shoe category and they are crushing it. They now have 25% of market share. On is waaaaay ahead of Nike in terms of innovation also. They are seeing 40% increase in sales. Crushing Nike. Even New Balance is owning Nike with a 20% increase in sales. Adidas also with a 30% increase in demand. So you can just stop right now before you dig a bigger hole.

Consumer sentiment for Nike has plummeted also. Stocks are down nearly 50%. 7 quarters of decreasing sales. They just got a bump due to the tarrif refund. Nike will likely get it turned around, they mostly need to stop making stupid decisions and get back to one of the leaders in innovation.

Trying to paint a happy face on an otherwise struggling stank pig should be beneath you.

I wanted to post in this thread because Nike did an objectively terrible job with our uniforms. Second, the argument some are making of Nike being this apparel juggernaut that is dominant and everyone wants is just objectively false. Adidas is objectively that brand now comparing the two. On Cloud tho is killing everyone. Like I said I think Nike will recover but if negotiations are taking place Miami has leverage they have never had in said negotiations.

Brother, it’s weird you’re so willing to die on this hill when a simple Google search proves you’re wrong. @TheOriginalCane continues to lay out how the administration asked Nike for nontraditional wacky ****. Not to mention Miami’s WvsL on the field was mediocre at best. Why would Nike treat us above the rest? I’ll take @Rellyrell ‘s facts over your anecdotal thoughts any day. Even if all these other companies are seeing sales increases. Nike is still bigger than all of them combined.

And why are we even discussing running shoes when it comes to Miami’s apparel deal? Are you that concerned with Miami’s long distance runners? Otherwise I want Miami to have the highest quality, best performing, best looking equipment in the country. That is still far and away the Nike product. Now if they lowball us and Adidas comes in with the better deal like @TheOriginalCane is seeking, then so be it.

Just weird you keep getting on that hill and getting killed over and over like a **** cat with 9 lives.

None of that proves anything I said wrong. The dumbest thing you posted is On. They are seeing 40% sales increase. WTF are you trying to argue here?

Hoka has taken 25% of the running shoe market. We talking about RUNNING SHOES. Use proper search criteria. Go to any running club and get back to me what they are wearing. I'll wait for that answer.

I literally googled running shoe market share
Bro if you continue trying to argue Hoka isn't killing everyone in the running shoe space you may want to delete later. They revolutionized the running shoe market and are THE brand. They came out of nowhere and in 10 years they've taken over. All these high stack rocker shoes are copies of Hoka's. Even On Cloud are copying them to some degree with different tech. I prefer more traditional shoes but Hoka's are easy to run in for just about anyone.
