I promise you, corporations like Nike and adidas are not in the charity business. They are not going to offer Miami "200 million" on the next deal because we made one CFP final.

The only way that Miami elevates its numbers is via competitive bidding. And by not ****ing and moaning about how Nike "isn't willing to pay what adidas will". I'm not criticizing you personally, I'm just talking about the process. Having a bunch of Miami fans yapping about how Nike doesn't want to do business with us and how we are probably going to re-sign with adidas is what will depress the money.

At a bare minimum, we need to get SOMEBODY involved who drives the price up. Even if used as a bargaining chip, you go back to Nike and tell them how much you want to reunite. Call up Under Armour. ****, call up Lululemon, I don't give a ****. But adidas is not going to pay $200 M without being PUSHED to do so. That's called "negotiating against yourself". It's stupid. So, yeah, I guess adidas MIGHT be stupid, but there is literally no reason to pay Miami tens of millions more than ANYONE ELSE is willing to pay Miami.

Finally, for the love of God, I hope nobody thinks we are getting $200 M in CASH. That's not how these work. About 1/3 of an apparel deal is cash and about 2/3 is in-kind equipment, merch, marketing, etc.

So whenever you see the announced number, divide by 3 to figure out how much cash we will be paid.

This is just magical thinking.

You have zero basis for saying this. In fact, you have evidence AGAINST this statement, like adidas rushing out to give Louisville a better deal, even though we had a most-favored-nations clause.

The first two words are key.

"I think".

Yeah, you think. Thinking doesn't make it so. You can "think" we will get our best offer from adidas. And if we do, it's not because Miami is a "priority going forward", but because another competitor drove adidas to go higher than they wanted to go.

Or have you not observed the college sports industry over the past 5 years.
 
Nike shoes look great but are the worst of the worst. Like those ****ers don't even try to make a comfortable shoe, in any style. Truly a ****** shoe.

I hear what you saying but louisville got 160 10 years ago. I know it’s not all about football but it’s the top sport in America and louisville has never done anything. Kansas got almost 200 and they are a bball school. Just based off the market and the brands with them even if it isn’t 200 it’s going to at least be between louisville and Kansas.


And you say bidding against themselves but that doesn’t matter. It’s about value and the market. It’s like having your Qb contract coming up with 1 year left. That qb is going to look around the league at what other guys got. They are going to say ok this guy got 38mil and this guy got 40mil. He is going to say I’m coming off a career year and I want to be the highest paid give me 42mil

I’m sure they will work behind the scenes to gauge what potentially other companies would be willing to pay

With all due respect, @Rellyrell has written about adidas and Under Armour and others overpaying in the past, and having remorse.

The fact that "Louisville got 160 10 years ago" doesn't mean ****. I realize that Trump loves inflation, but you can't count on inflation to run up every contract in history.

Whatever happened before...might not happen again. Who knows. But adidas isn't about to promise us more money and equipment because they were nice to Louisville 10 years ago.
 
Can't see us leaving Adidas as long as the Más brothers are writing checks.

I agree the Adidas fan gear is horrendous but at least the jerseys look good now.

Supposedly they paid over 90 million on the first deal. A new deal isn’t going to be less money. Even if it isn’t 200 it’s going to crack 100 and Nike isn’t paying that. Bama, uga, clemson, oregon are all making less than 90

First, we were never paid $90M in cash. I wish people would realize that.

Second, you have no idea what Nike would pay.

Miami - 12-year deal valued at $6.55 M per year ($78.6 M total)
Alabama - prior deal was valued at $5.25 M per year (deal was negotiated 2 years before Miami's deal) - deal has been extended at higher pay, undisclosed terms
Georgia - undisclosed right now
Clemson - 10-year $58 million deal
Oregon - 11-year $88 million deal

I've tried to explain this to @DMoney and other people, but maybe now they will listen. Nobody is making a ton of "cash" from their apparel deals, not even the school where Nike was founded.

The amount of money that Miami made in ONE YEAR of a CFP run is greater than the CASH that we made from our entire adidas deal over 12 years.

So when people say "I just want Miami to make more money", those are usually the people who don't realize HOW LITTLE cash is actually paid under these apparel contracts. Two-thirds of these apparel deals are NON-CASH.

Speaking of lululemon, UCF, UF, and FSU all have lululemon collabs, but UM doesn't. We women keep getting screwed!

People always complain about the uniforms we lost in. For most fans its either fhe traditional 3 strkpeor nothing. Alot of them even complained about the 2001 era unoforms which are some of the best in college history.

The last Nike set was AMAZING. The Smoke was iiconic. Then people complained about the "FAMU" combinations. People complain about the black.

The so called " eyebrows" to this day are some of the cleanest, most original uniforms I have ever seen. Now the bra strap with the stripe on the back was stupid should have jst put that on the end of the sleeves an down the side of the pants.

Old heads just hate change and variety. One woman, one car, one whiskey, one tv channel, one *** position. Never change anything unless we win in it then it barely becomes acceptable.

2008-2013 were not bad jerseys. The only thing that people could question would e the stripes on the back of the jersey.

2000-2003 were classic jerseys. Yes, they were the first non-traditional jerseys, but they had the strongest storyline of any of our jerseys ever.

And I realize all our 2000-2003 jerseys are getting threadbare from wear.

But let's not complain about "Pro Combat" and all the other one-offs that our idiot ADs approved.

I know you're a company guy, @DMoney, but please stop with "adidas was a breath of fresh air". RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX, adidas gave us the worst Miami jersey of all-time, an execrable piece of **** that was gone in ONE YEAR. Even the bra-straps lasted for 4 seasons.

Don't forget the 98-99 era traditional Nike 3 stripe. Those were awesome. With a modern cut and smaller mesh, I would love something similar when we finally dump Adidas.

People outside the program make this claim. But people inside these programs obviously don't seem to agree.
