If these are our peers, just kill me now. Can't we be mentioned in the same breath as Alabama or Southern Cal or Georgia or Clemson or Michigan or Taint or even (god help me) Florida?

We. Were. THE FIRST-EVER ALL-NIKE SCHOOL. That should mean something. Instead, we have a bunch of people arguing over how much we should value a throwback uniform that became our permanent uniform, as if that is the apex of our considerations.

All I said was I disliked our uniforms between 2000-2016, and these recent ones are my favorite. My argument really wasn't about watch direction we should go in. I see the benefits to both sides, and I honestly don't really care which brand we pick.

And for the love of god, please don't send me a four paragraph explanation on why I should care and why Nike may benefit us more. I'll save you some time lol

Yes. And by no means am I calling out @DMoney on this. I just think that the "normal" comparison that many fans make is "2026 adidas vs. 2014 Nike".

But if you say "hey, Nike, let's go back to our 1987-1996 uniforms", I know that Nike would do it.

Uncertain. I get that some people have preferences and some don't give a **** about any of this. Fine. Fair.

But it seems like a bunch of people who SAY they don't have an opinion....actually have an opinion.

I'm just honest. I am wearing an adidas UM polo today and Nike "Ceramic" Dunks. Do I prefer Nike? Sure. But I'd be OK with adidas IF IF IF there was a huge differential on the contract AND adidas started producing better merchandise.

Unfortunately, I don't think a no-bid insider contract renewal will get us to the money we want. Even though plenty of adidas fanboys TELL US that adidas loves Miami and will pay Miami, in what world do we ever see a publicly-traded company be OVERLY GENEROUS with the cash when there is no competition? And as for the merch, I've already given up. I haven't purchase any adidas merch in a year.

And everyone is entitled to their preferences. I'd never try to change that.

Would you agree that in American capitalism, the key to getting more money from a long-term contract is to have two or more bidders involved in a spirited and motivated bidding process?

I am not sure why certain people (not on this board, but on the BOT, etc.) do not want to allow an open bidding process, even if they were going to give it to adidas all along. At least promote the ILLUSION of a competitive bidding process.

I am not a fan of Adidas fan gear - nothing is consistent, from quality of clothes to sizing to design. Sometimes I just want the exact same shirt in all the school colors, and they come out with same designs for 2-3 colors, and then the 4th they change it up.

That said, the actual jersey technology leaves a lot to be desired by Adidas. I think someone posted the differences in that and how the end fit for players is better with Nike.

And then you have the brands themselves - in basketball more than football, Nike is signing HS kids and they don’t go to Adidas schools. Adidas signs some kids, but they don’t care where they go, they are more interested in their pro years. Which doesn’t help Miami.

Lastly, if we insist on staying with Adidas because they give us best pricing, than we can we have someone who will hold Adidas to the contract? I am 95 percent sure we probably have a favored nations clause in our contract, but 10 minutes after we sign, another school comes along and gets more. We need someone to monitor that and ensure we are the true flagship program (especially since they are selling that in partnership with the soccer guy).

Funny thing is Missing on Branch is the best thing that happened to us. Dude would have had to play the same role Toney did imo. Guy average like 10 screens a game.

But to the point of it not being any big brand teams with adidas and now that miami is putting out a good product again wouldn’t that make it more likely that they would be willing to offer big money to keep them?

I like Nike better than adidas but I don’t think they are going to be willing to pay Miami what adidas will. Kansas has the biggest deal with adidas at 196 and then Louisville at 160. It was rumored that miami got over 90 million on the last deal. They could be looking at 200 million on the next deal. Osu and texas are the only schools over 200 million with Nike
 
A&M, Penn St, Nebraska, Washington, Tennessee, Kansas all other adidas schools. Utah is moving to 3 stripe along with a few others. Adidas is making an effort in the NIL space that programs are noticing and is needed in new era. Not saying nike isnt. But just because nike is the predominant brand historically doesn't mean they will be in next decade nor does it mean they are willing to meet miami at what adidas is (not saying they aren't either). I could care less on the other stuff. Just give us the most competitive $ available to fund our rosters. And now I'll turn off notifications before the Nike zombies attack.

If Adidas is smart with the investments we are making in the athletic department, it can be a real flywheel. We should absolutely be Adidas #1 priority in the entire country. As far as CFB opportunities and how they are much better internationally especially with soccer, Miami and LA are THE cities to try to own for them. And they lost UCLA to Jordan. And now they’ve made the investments into HS in Miami. So… I legit think we are their only hope of having an elite brand in CFB. And for them we are in the ideal area of the country.

I think we will by far be Adidas #1 priority going forward. Which is why I think we will get best offer from them.


It should be an open competition though, def should consider Nike+Jordan before just extending with Adidas. I just don’t expect them to offer better deal

Agree completely.

I've literally been in Hurricanes Team Store looking at a polo, and then I find that a different color of the same shirt has 2 or 3 different design elements. It's bizarre. No rhyme or reason.
