MEGA New Miami Adidas Ultraboost🔥 - The Shoe and Nike/Adidas Thread.

"If you want to understand why tradition was abandoned, I will, again, direct you to Nike’s tanking stock price. I posted a piece about UBS research revealing that a decline in NBA popularity had hurt the apparel giant. This is causation in the other direction, where Nike foolishness has undermined the NBA brand."

Yep, & their dumb *** City Connects. Fortunately, I’m hearing a lot of that is coming to an end. However, this isn’t all on Nike & I feel like Nike is the new Drake. The NBA has its own issues, namely a Commissioner who’s out of touch of what fans want. The popularity of the game has nothing to do w jerseys & everything to do w the mindset of the players. Again, I see younger players leaning into being competitive again vs. this LBJ era of getting the bag, joining teams to give the best chance to win, & complain about playing 65 games to get ur $$.

I’ve seen a lot of grousing about Adidas on this board for years and I’ve never been able to surmise why it is that fans hate our adidas gear or deal….

Anyone care to enlighten???

A lot of folks on here have complained about the quality of the on-field jerseys.

I would like to add that a lot of their fan gear sucks ***. The sizing is inconsistent. The shoes that they come out with for schools are meh most of the time. The quality is **** compared to Nike. The options are lacking compared to Nike.

If they treated CFB teams with the same love and care they treat the international soccer teams, nobody would be *****ing. Cause they do great stuff with international soccer.

My biggest gripe with Adidas is their best gear is only provided to the athletes. Hoodies, tees, etc., I see so many awesome designs worn by players, and we fans are never able to purchase. Adidas invests a lot in equipping athletes and advertising, but their fan service is really lacking. If you ask Harry I suspect he’d tell you the same, retailers can’t get access to the most requested or highest quality items.

Sizing is also weird. An Adidas medium is bizarrely sized in comparison to what my tiny arms are used to

Adidas sucks at football and basketball.

Always has, always will.

Their options for women's Miami gear is pretty much nonexistent too. They basically just take a few of the men's designs and slap it on a basic women's tee shirt...badly.

I've had to find Miami gear through other brands for many years, which is difficult since most stuff is made for 18-year olds.

Fan service is horrible. I couldn't buy Miami Hurricanes gear even if I tried and mind you, Adidas is German. So am I.

Added to that, the cleats suck. Like, they really really suck. There's no comparison between Nike and Adidas, because Nike is miles better. Every time there's a slightly wet field requiring longer studs, none of our players actually wear longer studs and I refuse to believe that they choose to do that. They don't supply them. And they weren't the only supplier who didn't have longer studs.

1. The 12-year deal is cheap. No upside. "Guaranteed payments", with no "if you exceed certain levels" participation in royalties.

2. Even though we had "most favored nation status", adidas went out almost immediately and signed Louisville to a better deal, without enriching our deal. Beta Blake failed to catch the problem until years later, which was part of the reason he was fired.

3. The initial uniforms were terrible. While they got better, it has taken adidas the vast majority of its 12 year contract to get our on-field uniforms up to where they need to be.

4. The initial fan merch was good, but has been declining for years. The "special promotions" like the camouflage jerseys/merch, the breast cancer jerseys/merch, and even the Miami Nights jerseys/merch have been largely crap. And don't even get me started on the environmental "Parley" jerseys/merch, there are still people who get triggered by that.

5. Quite simply, adidas is a distant second-place company. Winners wear Nike, that's just a stone-cold fact. We are, by association, hanging out with the Arizona States and the NC States of the world.

6. While there has been improvement in the last 1-2 years, for most of the contract, the "activation" or co-branded marketing from adidas was terrible. They belatedly and weakly embraced the Cam Ward For Heisman campaign, among other missteps. Only recently has adidas figured out how to spend money on HS players and NIL.

7. The PE (player edition) gear has been terrible. Nike schools get PE gear that players actually covet and wear. The adidas crap is on eBay (at clearance prices) very quickly. And there is NO value in adidas shoes. Our Miami-branded shoes are almost always on clearance prices within 6 months, while the Nike editions for other schools sell at premiums. And adidas does not have any "premium" line like Jordan or Lexus or Acura. The Fear of God stuff was late and HORRIBLE. I don't even buy adidas any longer, I buy Columbia and Cutter & Buck and Peter Millar and Tommy Bahama and johnnie-O and Southern Tide and Champion.

EDIT 8. For the ladies...yes, the adidas offerings for women...not good.

Any questions?

Any positive impact through NIL with Adidas acquiring rights to all Miami-Dade schools? SIAP or covered in another thread.
