Nike is a big lumbering directionless giant.
Those that downplay their stock price performance should understand the significance that it has.
It absolutely will affect every aspect of their operation. The management team will be focused on a strategy which they hope will result in the stock price to rebound. It will affect nearly every employee that’s mid-level management or above.
You will know that they’re on the right path when we start seeing major restructuring, layoffs, and general overall cost-cutting and strategic repositioning, including a possible shake up of top management.
It’s forward PE is still high compared to its competition and the market sector that it is in, so I don’t know if right now is the time to get in. But it will be at some point.
Timing is always hard, and without deep inside knowledge of the company and the market sector they operate in, is always very tricky.
As far as this underperformance and how this affects Miami/Nike, I just don’t think strategically they care one bit about Miami. They’ve got much bigger fish to fry.
