I had a bit at the end of #6. It's an improvement, but it will take years of support like that to pay dividends.

Nike is still #1 in the hearts and minds of kids.

That's fine.

The takeaway should be very simple. Miami was the VERY FIRST all-Nike school deal, back in 1987. Not Oregon. Not North Carolina. MIAMI.

And that special relationship should have value and take precedence. Yes, Miami sucked (on-field) for most of the 2000s up to the point when Beta Blake signed the adidas deal. And, yes, Beta Blake was diverting Nike money out of the "player equipment/merchandise" bucket and into the "just give us more money" bucket for several years before signing the adidas deal.
 
Gear and fan wear looks like temu made it. CB11 went right back to Nike stuff after the national championship lol

Can’t forget that one year where they made our jerseys from literal trash to get stomped on by lsu.

But if they’re funding our NIL and making us their #1 school then so be it. Honestly they should be funding NIL for our 5 star must get recruits.

I’ve seen a lot of grousing about Adidas on this board for years and I’ve never been able to surmise why it is that fans hate our adidas gear or deal….

****** merch selection and shoddy unis coupled with not following through on making g Miami their premier brand.
 
I doubt the top 10 drivers of athlete decision making regarding where to play has nike vs adidas on the list. Unless that isn't true, then I couldn't care less who we use as long as we cut the best deal we can moving forward.

In the NIL era especially with basketball it absolutely matters. And it’s impacted us in football on a couple of transfers who had Nike agreements from their previous school so us being with Adidas took us out of play.

I believe other than Phil being in his feelings and holding a grudge against Mario for leaving Oregon we’re switching back.

Best I recall Zachariah and Zion Branch… heard rumors about others too.

And I’m not saying Miami would’ve been the landing spot if not for Adidas only but the affiliation was a part of the exclusion because they preferred Nike sponsored schools.

A lot of folks on here have complained about the quality of the on-field jerseys.

I would like to add that a lot of their fan gear sucks ***. The sizing is inconsistent. The shoes that they come out with for schools are meh most of the time. The quality is **** compared to Nike. The options are lacking compared to Nike.

If they treated CFB teams with the same love and care they treat the international soccer teams, nobody would be *****ing. Cause they do great stuff with international soccer.

100% UM’s Merch is Caca. I’m sure Nike would have us looking clean.

6. While there has been improvement in the last 1-2 years, for most of the contract, the "activation" or co-branded marketing from adidas was terrible. They belatedly and weakly embraced the Cam Ward For Heisman campaign, among other missteps. Only recently has adidas figured out how to spend money on HS players and NIL.

7. The PE (player edition) gear has been terrible. Nike schools get PE gear that players actually covet and wear. The adidas crap is on eBay (at clearance prices) very quickly. And there is NO value in adidas shoes. Our Miami-branded shoes are almost always on clearance prices within 6 months, while the Nike editions for other schools sell at premiums. And adidas does not have any "premium" line like Jordan or Lexus or Acura. The Fear of God stuff was late and HORRIBLE. I don't even buy adidas any longer, I buy Columbia and Cutter & Buck and Peter Millar and Tommy Bahama and johnnie-O and Southern Tide and Champion.

EDIT 8. For the ladies...yes, the adidas offerings for women...not good.

1. Yes. 12 yr is too long. If we re-sign with them and it’s 8yrs, most of this is mitigated.

2. Sure. But today is that clause in effect and will it be going forward upon a re-sign and the CURRENT admin is unlikely to get played, right? Past is past. Current and future this is doubtful to be an issue

3. Sure. I’d argue so were the final decade of Nike uniforms. And like point 2, CURRENT and assumed future uniforms are great. So not really an issue with this renegotiation at all.

4. Ok, that’s mostly personally opinion. I noticed Bryant picked the camo to rep in the photos on his recruiting trip… maybe kids don’t hate it as much. But also I haven’t really disliked most of the 1-off units. Especially the white ones. At end of the day they take swings, a few will be misses. Not a big deal imo. Not all Oregons are good

5. Yes this is probably strongest point going forward. Indiana just won with adidas, but yeah Nike is clearly viewed as superior.

6. If recently Adidas has figured out to pay guys to help us, is that going to continue to be the case going forward? That’s what matters more with this renegotiation. Seems to be going well. Is the school happy with what adidas has done in this dept currently? Is this admin going to let that slip going forward? Seems unlikely. Guess the AD choice could be critical here?

7&8. Sure. Everyone seems to hate the merch. I guess we will see how much the school values that vs the rest of the deal. If we re-sign with Adidas, I’m sure it’s because they think the rest of the value and pay is superior than we’d get with Nike
