But for my alma mater, whose first major point of nationwide validation was becoming the first all-Nike university, I would like to see us reinstate the relationship that was derailed by Beta Blake.

There are serious and legitimate issues to address (injuries), there are stupid-****ing-match issues that should be avoided (the money!, which will be relatively equivalent, though could be better if one company gives us a 15% royalty rate), and there are borderline-retarded issues that should indicate the motivation of the individual (Nike treated us poorly, waaah waaaah).

I am with you. As I said before, at the end of the day IT IS WHAT IT IS. I would like to think we're all Canes fans and, let's be honest, do we want to lose sleep over 'adidas vs nike'?

I think the biggest issue with Nike's decline is that there's no young compelling American NBA superstar. Nike had Jordan - Kobe - LeBron - ? Even if Wemby becomes the star they and the NBA hope he'll be he won't connect with Americans because he's French. I don't think the issue is the glut of NBA uniforms. The large number of NBA uniforms is something the NBA wants for money reasons and Nike complies.
