New Ivins Update

He’d set XP records with Lashlee calling the plays. Unless he goes full Feagles.

i think in a lot of instances ivins is trying to tell the fan base what they want to hear (so and so committed) without spoiling the kid's commitment. he has talked openly about confirming the avantae williams commitment the night before but not spoiling it while still trying to drop hints to miami fans that avantae was going to pick miami. we all know what he's saying when he says he "thinks" jabari ishmael is going to pick miami right?

i love all the great message board scoop posters like cribby, but ivins actually has to face the people (kids, families, coaches) he writes about and covers. it's a different ballgame. along w/ barry jackson he's still the best reporter covering the team.

Pretty much my take on it. He has a job to do. If he actually spilled a lot of the information early, coaches & players wouldn't talk to him as much or at all. Not a wise move for him to spill all the beans. That's probably why after NSD, he tells some of those recruiting stories

Wouldn’t be surprised if Jabari Ishmael picks the canes. Staff pushed for his commit cause “spots are tight”. Thomas Davis would still be a take if Ishmael commits. He could also move up his august 24 commitment date. Odd man our would be Sebastian sagar.

Staff is going to push for Jason Marshall till the end (like avante Williams). Looking for another cornerback. Main guys are duce chestnut and Markevious brown. Ivins said he would give a slight edge to Brown in regards to who he thinks is more likely to commit.

Staff is pushing to keep Laurence Seymore from schools like penn state and Florida. Says smoke is real with Borregales to unc but Andy knows he can come in as a freshman.

Miami continues to recruit Amari Daniels and Brashard smith. Miami leads for smith and are in the top 2-3 with Daniels. Both are looking to commit soon. Also pointed out Yul Brown is still an option. Says staff are recruiting him hard. Not looking to make a decision soon
Borregales is not going to Criminal Hill...his older bro would murder him.

I understand not rushing to be committed to a school but waiting is what's going to keep Yul out of this class. Would've been cool to have him.

He must be waiting on a school that don't want him but he wants them and at the end of the day he'll wind up at Louisville

Just remember that the Ivins, Rivals, 247, etc yahoos are the same guys who rank the kids. Projecting future success for football players is so easy, that billion dollar NFL teams with multi-million dollar GM's and coaches who get to watch years of ESPN/ABC/CBS etc and coaches tape of fully developed athletes, who get to interview, combine, wonderlic, work-out, etc etc these kids... its so easy that these NFL teams STILL get their draft picks wrong 50% of the time. But by all means, people, trust these wanna be JV high school coaches and their rankings.

That doesn’t explain why the teams that get all the highly rated kids routinely win in college football. Every. Single. Year.

"I wouldn't be surprised if Ishmael picks Miami.."

Really AI I wonder what gave it away? Lol.

And Markevious Brown isn't a "slight" edge as to who is most likely to commit, the staff wants him as the last CB in this class, obviously they're going to keep chipping away at Marshall but he's going to Bama as of now & our next best option is Brown. They'd only make a hard push for Chestnut if they missed on Brown.

I understand what Ivins job is, but he makes it more glaringly obvious every time that his sources within the program are not as strong as they used to be during the Richt tenure.

He tip-toes too much & I don't expect him to be overly bold & make a bunch of predictions without credible info, but if he doesn't know something he should just say, "no new updates as of now".

Remember, 247 is a company. Sometimes I get the impression that he's forced to meet a quota or push out an article even when he knows its nothing significant to put in it.

Not the first time this has happened. Back in the ‘80’s Allen Wallace of SuperPrep Magazine pulled something like this. As I recall my conversation with Wallace—now over thirty years ago—his target was Max Emfinger whom Wallace claimed wrote up a bogus evaluation of the kid who didn’t exist.

is it just me or do you find it interesting that ivins doesn't mention leonard taylor in his update. sure looks like they asked him to keep it quiet.
Talks about him in-depth in his latest podcast. “Strong possibility” is how he described the momentum to Miami. Also said his picking a Miami would lead to a “chain reaction with some DUDES.”

Wonder where we’ve heard that line before...

Hahaha.. I mean, James Franklin has built a solid program. Especially after everything that happened. I thought that program was dead and would never come back.

They were dead until the NCAA thought it was great idea to have them receive their scholarships and post season eligibility back

Now we know NCAA loves pedophiles on top of loving the Klan in the Deep South

Because my dead grandmother can watch football and tell you who the best players are.
She could also tell you to buy AAPL and AMZN but it wouldn’t make her a top financial analyst.

It’s in the little things... differentiation among low 4 stars, the difference between the 3’s, etc. that makes or breaks most programs.

Did you know the 38th best player and the 350th best player, according to the services are both four stars? That’s the difference between being an early second round draft pick an undrafted free agent who probably doesn’t get a camp invite. What a joke.

Yeah, Bama can fill a roster with 85 five star guys and win the numbers game. Again, my dead grandma, or a wanna be coach who "ranks" these kids for the services can see who the clear stars are. So you can you btw. Programs like that are throwing money at the problem and smothering it. It gets interesting when you look at the difference in the success among teams ranked 6-15 or so where you have to really start evaluating.
