He recruits Oregon well. Not 1 player committed from Florida. He will not have the same success in South Florida that he does out west. To many bigger programs poaching recruits down here
Top kids from Florida ain’t flying over SEC country to go play on the complete opposite side of the US. Texas or OSU is the farthest they go. USC would pull a kid or two every 3rd cycle. He pulls top kids frim Cali, TX and Zona all the time.

I selected Mario becasue of his recruiting record and cough, cough, connection to the school. But, Kiffin would also work for me because of his offense (and rogue image ;-)).

Which means we would have to cut a $30 million check (grossed-up for income taxes) to cover Stoops' buyout.
Stoops is better than the rest, but not that much better....., especially at that price. Miami said they wanted to go big. LOL. Maybe there is a work around to lower that buyout.

True, seemed like all his studs were down to USC and Oregon. I think many overlook his rise at Oregon with the fall of USC. Similar to how UF emerged during our down years. Kids got to go somewhere.

This is hilarious. Diaz isn't fired yet, the number of "I want this guy" suggestions will mean that most here will be disappointed no matter who gets picked and then we start the same cycle for the 6th time.
"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
Tell me how recycle of coaches has worked so far...also how many coaches needed more than 3 years to prove themselves? Let the insanity end!

If Diaz was idle and not addressing our problems then it is time to go, but he has been innovative and a problem solver. I'd bet he knows making himself DC spread himself to thin. Mullen fires two coordinators and everything is fine, Diaz is under such pressure it is difficult for him to initiate the changes I'd bet he knows have to be made. With James gone we are lame ducks now until another AD gets added. Hopefully someone wise and intuitive, one that will give Manny one more year plus give him a workable budget.
The only changes that need to be made are the Head Coach and the DC do you think Manny would do that?

This is what I don't get. No guarantee Mario comes and all of a sudden we start landing top 5 classes. Could happen sure, but not some slam dunk. Leaving Oregon to take Miami job is the most clout he can bring us though.

Agree with this. IMO, much easier to recruit at Oregon when everyone else in the conference is garbage and at Alabama than at Miami at the moment. Before we can start pulling top 10 classes, we need to start winning consistently first.

James Coley was known as an "elite" recruiter when he was at FSU. In his 2 years here we ranked 12 and 27 (something along those lines). Its not a big of a slam dunk as ppl think it is.

Win and they will come.

I just meant overall wording. This says should.. not who will. I’d vote Manny over Lane tbh. Just don’t see it. Wishful thinking. Maybe I’m just a battered wife.
KEEP MANNY?!?!?! Dude, you're Tina Turner

I was saying it’s more likely Miami let’s Manny come back for his final year then Lane signing here.

That’s at least been the trend the last 20 years.

Stoops, the coach who is actually building a program, from basically nothing.
Is this really building a program 54 - 53 over 9 seasons? 30-17 over the past 5 years? 20-14 over the past 3 years? Please don't try to convince me that UM fans would tolerate this kind of performance, never going to happen. His first three years, 12-24 and Manny is 19-15 in the same time period. This is not an argument to keep Manny, it's a statement of reality that UM would never give Mark Stoops 5 years, or 4 years with this performance. Recruiting classes from 2018-2021 were ranked 37, 34, 25 and 34. Stoops has done less with less, but a legitimate question about his ability to recruit exists. He's a good guy, not just the right guy.

Very true. He was innovative enough on D to make Jordan Travis look like a real QB.. AND he helped solve part of FSU's mathematical problem on getting to a bowl game. Give this man a raise!

You realize that Lane doesn't like to recruit, right? Recruiting classes ranked 22, 34, 17 during the 2019-2021 period. Lane might be a better game day coach, but he's not a very enthusiastic recruiter. Whereas Mario's classes were 7, 11, 6 during the same period. Mario needs help on the coaching front and requires a strong staff.

Mario has the right temperament for my liking...kinda in the mode of Jimmy. But, I could ride with Lane Kiffin as well as long as he gives us 5 years and he doesn't pack up his stuff in the middle of the night

He trotted inferior talent out ahead of better young players until the older players were injured and he had no choice.

The 2 safeties and LT were scores in recruiting. How’s LB, DT aside from LT or DE? TRob landed some CB commits but essentially we’re a safety recruiting juggernaut.

How about the way injured players were dealt with?

Some of the **** done to our players in different ways - from wasting talent and development to injuries - was just criminal in my opinion. He’s responsible.
Roosuseu, Bolden, King, Avantae, need I go on...he has done well with the portal and has been complimented for his use of the portal so criticizing his recruiting is a lame argument....everyone acknowledges our talent or do they over estimate expectations? We've seen the new kids and they are good with the same coaches...think about it, recycle or take a chance. Get rid of Patke, hire a quality DC, trust new talent and watch. Also improve any assistant via the new money.
