Looks like a high upside depth piece with a little positional versatility. Has size and good motor. He will save Blount from being overutilized inside.

DT1's: Moten & Scott
DT2's: Carter, Davis, Blount (situational)
DT3's: Stancil & Newton
Redshirt candidates: Nagle, Bacon, Sainteus, and the Delaware kid.

Literally the best depth at DT that I can remember since Big Vince rotated in 25 or so years ago.

I disagree, I think Damon Wilson and Lightfoot will CLEARLY be the best pure pass rushers on this team and will be the primary rush edges
I agree but I feel you may be overlooking Hayden Lowe's pass rushing ability. I also think that Blount improves here the more he plays but Lowe is the more natural pass rusher of the two.

I don’t think Wilson will be a downgrade on Messidor whatsoever. Where I do think we will see a major difference is our DEs ability to stop the run. I think our DT is definitely going to be better. Just wish we had a better LB core is all.
Run game defense will take a step back. 3 & 4 were very rare at stopping the run setting the edge and being elite pass rushers. Very rare.

They actually gave him a 4* 92 rating, for whatever that’s worth.
I see the movment skills and frame. Dude looks solid at 275.

Get him to 285 by August and he will look like a cyborg. With some actual good coaching teaching him moves (looked pretty raw on tape, all hustle and motor).

I think he can be better than what relly thinks lol

Wilson - Scott - Moten - Lowe
Lightfoot - Blount - Carter - Davis rotating in being able to play multiple spots. Got a lot of potential on guys behind these 8 too.

Holy ****
Think Blount will be start at one DE (and move inside on passing downs).

Lowe hasn't played one snap in college ball and is coming off a serious injury.

Starting lineup, Wilson-Scott-Moten-Blount. That starting lineup is the perfect blend of youth and experience. Wilson 21, Blount 19 going into his 3rd year, Justin Scott 20, and Moten will turn 22. All of them have plenty of room to improve as well.

McConathy, Lowe, Carter, Davis, Newton, Stancil, Lightfoot, Pickett, Scroggins will rotate in throughout the season. Remember, it’s a long season and injuries r a thing. They r gonna need all of those bodies.

All true.

But there are some things schematically that CCH will do to make up for losing 3 and 4. Will it be as effective as having those guys at the edges on a net/net basis?

Not certain. We'll need to line up and play to find out. :)

247 ended up giving Davis a 4-star portal rating and ranked him 9th best d-lineman in the portal. Ranked him ahead of guys like the Clemson DT we pursued and right behind Brewu

That surprised me
We are starting to get the bumps that Bama and Georgia got. If we are after them, these evaluators give them more credit. Never thought I’d see the day

I was telling this to a friend other day. These recruiting sites want to be right with their evals and how it transitions to the nfl . So when they see development or success from a staff / program they will start giving your eval’s credence. If Bama or UGA offered a low rated guy you can believe he was getting a big jump, “ the bama bump”.

Especially LOS players for us. They are going to start getting higher ratings because we have demonstrated quality eval and development there

Recruiting services need to adjust from the attempt at projecting these kids to the NFL because its totally up in the air depending where they go to school and so many other factors.

Someone do something new and rank these kids based on what we're going to project them to do in college.

Those 2 did there job!! And did it **** good Bain plays DE how its suppose to be played! Any young DE need to study how he sets the edge

I am certain. Whatever Hetherman does at DE will not be as effective as having those guys at the edges on a net/net basis. But I agree that the overall DL could be as effective because you should see a major step forward by Scott and Blount in their Year 3, and we only really saw Moten at a CFP level late in the season. Add in the transfers and we're fuccin.

The key is always to be able to stop the run and get to the QB when he passes with only 4 guys. We'll still be able to do that.
